Abstract: In one preferred embodiment, a laser pointer includes a connector for connecting the laser pointer to a computer, a regulator connected to the connector for regulating a voltage from the computer, a voltage converting circuit connected to the regulator for converting the voltage from the computer to a needed voltage, a charging circuit receiving the needed voltage, a rechargeable cell charged by the charging circuit, a switch, and an output circuit connected to the rechargeable cell via the switch for outputting laser light. When the laser pointer runs out of power, the notebook computer may charge the laser pointer. It is convenient and economical.

Abstract: An enclosure for electrical system includes a side plate and an adjusting piece movably attached to the side plate. The side plate includes a heat dissipating part in which a plurality of heat dissipating holes is defined. The adjusting piece is movable with respect to the heat dissipating part for covering portions of at least some of the heat dissipating holes. The enclosure provides a function of adjusting of heat dissipation and noise suppression of an electrical system.

Abstract: A portable computer includes a base with a motherboard secured thereto, a display pivotably attached to the base, and a solar cell module. A first connector is installed to the display and electrically connected with the motherboard. The solar cell module has a solar panel. A plurality of photovoltaic sheets is arranged on the solar panel for converting solar energy into electric energy. A second connector is electrically connected with the solar panel. The solar cell module is detachably mounted to the display with the second connector connecting with the first connector such that the electric energy is capable of being transmitted to the motherboard via the first connector and the second connector.

Abstract: A mounting apparatus for fixing an expansion card to a motherboard, includes a connector socket for engaging with a first portion of the expansion card, and a clamp configured for engaging with a second portion of the expansion card. The connector socket is installed on the motherboard, and two latching portions are formed on two sides of the connector socket respectively. The clamp includes two elastic arms riding on the second portion of the expansion card and engaging with the corresponding latching portions of the connector socket.

Abstract: A stand configured for holding a soldering iron therein includes a base, and a supporting member extending slantingly and upwardly from the base. A reservoir is defined in one end of the base for receiving solder therein. A sponge holder sponge holder is defined in another end of the base for receiving a sponge. The supporting member defines a tube for receiving the soldering iron therein. When the soldering iron is holden in the tube of the supporting member, the tip of the soldering iron extends into the solder.

Abstract: A packing member includes two pairs of boxes arranged at the two opposite sides of a product respectively. Each pair of boxes cooperatively sandwiches the product therebetween at a corresponding side of the product. Each of the boxes includes a first sidewall, at least a middle sidewall, and a last sidewall being sequentially connected together. The first sidewall connects with the last sidewall to thereby form a through hole enclosed by said sidewalls except two ends of the box. A receiving hole is defined in said sidewalls and communicates with the through hole. The receiving holes of each pair of boxes face toward each other and hold opposite ends of the corresponding side of the product therein.

Abstract: A cooling apparatus is used for cooling an electronic element. The cooling apparatus includes a fan and a fan duct. The fan is for generating airflow. The fan duct including an inlet, an outlet, and a first metal net fixed in one of the inlet and the outlet, is for guiding the airflow. The inlet is for allowing air to enter the fan duct. The outlet is for allowing air to flow out from the fan duct. The first metal net defines a plurality of guiding holes for the airflow to pass through, and a maximum distance in a traverse direction of each of the guiding holes is smaller than one twentieth of a wavelength of an electromagnetic wave emitted from the electronic element. An electronic device using the cooling apparatus is also disclosed.

The first control circuit is connected between the PCMCIA interface and the memory module. The second control circuit is connected between the USB interface and the memory module. The interface switch is connected between the first control circuit and the second control circuit. The interface switch is changed between a first state, and a second state. When the interface switch is in the first state, one of the USB interface and the PCMCIA interface is selectively used. When the interface switch is in the second state, both the USB interface and the PCMCIA interface are used.

Abstract: An exemplary computer includes a host machine, and a display device. The host machine defines a recessed portion in a side panel thereof to receive the display device therein. The display device includes a frame, and an LCD panel installed in the frame. The recessed portion includes a pair of elongated grooves defined in one pair of sidewalls thereof, and a plurality of vents defined in a base wall thereof. The frame includes a pair of posts extending from side portions thereof to engage in the elongated grooves. The posts are surrounded with resilient materials and tightly received in the elongated grooves in an interferential fit. The display device is pivotable about more than one axis relative to the host machine.

Abstract: A computerized electronic device includes a base, a display pivoted to the base, a sending module fixed to the display for emitting a light beam, a receiving module fixed to the base for receiving the light beam emitted by the sending module passing through a bill to be detected, and a controller for receiving signals from the receiving module and processing the signals to obtain a result therefrom. The computerized electronic device adopts computer-aided devices to complement bill validation. This greatly improves the accuracy and smartness of bill validation.

Abstract: A system for analyzing a mean time between failures (MTBF) of an electronic product is disclosed. The system includes a database (10) comprising a plurality of bill of material (BOM) tables (100) that stores data on components of the electronic product; and a computer (3) installed with a spreadsheet (300) for analyzing the MTBF of the electronic product. The computer includes: a data importing module (301) for importing the data stored in the BOM tables to the spreadsheet; a reliability analyzing module (302) for classifying the data in the spreadsheet, analyzing the reliability of the electronic product by calculating the MTBF of the electronic product in the spreadsheet, and for generating a reliability prediction report; and a report outputting module (303) for outputting the reliability prediction report to an output device (40). A related method is also disclosed.

The heat sink can remove heat generated by the electronic component and shield EMI generated by the electronic component, as well.

Abstract: A portable display device includes a flexible electrophoretic display, a circuit board electrically connected to the display, and a base receiving and securing the display and the circuit board therein. The display includes a pair of electrodes for providing an electric field therebetween, and a microcapsule layer positioned between the electrodes. The circuit board is electrically connected to the electrodes of the display for providing power to the electrodes and controlling the electric field generated between the electrodes. The base comprises at least two portion foldable to each other to thereby allow the display to be foldable with the at least two portions.
