    Abstract: A method for performing a therapeutic treatment on a section of a wall of a body passage, by: isolating a portion of the body passage which encloses the section from the remainder of the body passage; introducing into the isolated portion of the body passage a liquid medium containing a treatment agent; maintaining the treatment agent in the isolated portion for a predetermined time period; during the step of maintaining, periodically withdrawing a sample of the liquid medium from the isolated portion of the body passage, analyzing the sample to determine the proportion of treatment agent present in the liquid medium in the isolated portion and modifying the liquid medium in the isolated portion to establish a desired proportion of the treatment agent in the liquid medium in the isolated portion.
