Abstract: A system and method for digital monitoring of sleep apnea using non-invasive means for evaluating and monitoring obstructive sleep apnea by counting the number of oxygen desaturations, comprising a sensor (11) installed on the patient's finger, formed of an oximeter and an actigraph, a mobile telecommunications terminal (13) provided with a first application for interaction with said sensor and a remote server (16) provided with software for the final processing of the set of values measured by said sensor, wherein communication among the sensor, mobile terminal and remote server is provided by radiofrequency links. In addition, it is possible to monitor the patient's heart rate, body position, respiratory rate, and snoring, which is captured by the microphone (14) of the mobile terminal and preprocessed therein. The result of the processing performed in the remote server can be shown in the form of a graph and/or report.

Abstract: The present invention provides a wireless pulse oximeter for continuous use comprising a first device (10), adapted to a part of the body of a patient and comprising physiological data sensoring means, communicating with a second remote device (12) by means of an RF connection (11), said first device powered by a rechargeable battery (31), being provided with battery charge saving means by automatically shutting off the power from the circuits when this device is not installed on the patient's body. The second remote device is an intelligent terminal containing a display as well as a specific application for processing the physiological data captured by the first device and received by way of said RF connection.
