  • Publication number: 20250020859
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fiber and a laser probe assembly with a probe tip that houses the fiber. In certain aspects, the fiber includes a core, an outer cladding surrounding the core, and an end face at a proximal and/or distal end of the fiber. The core is configured to transmit a laser light beam while the core and the outer cladding are both configured to transmit an illumination light. In certain aspects, a surface area of the end face corresponding to a cross-section of at least the outer cladding is treated with a roughening or polishing process to modulate an illumination light output angle of the fiber. Using a fiber that is configured to transmit a laser light beam as well as a wide-angle illumination light allows for a more compact fiber and probe tip, allowing for medical procedures that require a narrower probe.

  • Publication number: 20250005438
Abstract: The invention is to utilize a process in which synthetic data sets are generated that contain intentional bias to run against an AI model. The purpose is to detect potential bias and if detected, perform bias mitigation procedure on the sensitive attributes associated with the bias. The embodiments are a construction component that constructs an initial artificial intelligence (AI) model using a structured data set with continuous, binary or multi-class prediction labels; a generation component that generates synthetic datasets from the training set wherein protected attributes are simulated; and an execution component that runs the initial model against synthetic biased testing data sets to gage robustness of the initial model by scoring the model and exposing protected attributes to target for bias mitigation.

Abstract: Systems and methods for illumination light source control are provided. One method includes receiving a request to change an illumination output for one or more light sources, determining a total aphakic irradiance, determining a total aphakic irradiance normalized standard deviation, and determining a peak total aphakic irradiance based on the total aphakic irradiance and the total aphakic irradiance normalized standard deviation. The request includes a requested light level. When the peak total aphakic irradiance is less than or equal to an aphakic irradiance limit, the illumination output is changed based on the requested light level. When the peak total aphakic irradiance is greater than the aphakic irradiance limit, the requested light level is reduced until the peak total aphakic irradiance is less than or equal to the aphakic irradiance limit, and the illumination output is changed based on the reduced requested light level.
