  • Patent number: 4317068
Abstract: An improvement on conventional internal combustion ignition systems, which improvement comprises a capacitor connected parallel to the secondary winding of the ignition transformer, and a bypass circuit through which energy stored in the primary circuit is conveyed around the high impedance secondary winding of the circuit transformer to the spark plug after the high voltage at the secondary winding has fired an auxiliary gap to complete the by-pass circuit. The energy originally stored in the primary circuit is discharged at the plug to produce a plasma jet ignition plume.

  • Patent number: 4270189
Abstract: The disclosure shows a read only storage (ROS) formed of a matrix of rows and columns of field effect transistor (FET) devices which is personalized by the presence or absence of a gate at the memory device location. All circuits on the chip are controlled and restored to initial conditions by a single train of clock pulses including the row and column addresses, the array select and the output sensing. In addition the output signal is communicated directly to the output line control device without withdrawing current to set the outputs latch thereby making the output truely delayless.

  • Patent number: 4267640
Abstract: A system for detecting magnetic field direction comprising a pair of orthogonally positioned rods each having a rectangular shaped BH curve, a switching winding, and detectors for detecting the switching of magnetic polarity of each rod to either of its remanent states. A switching current having a triangularly shaped waveform is supplied through said switching windings to drive said rods between their remanent states at times depending upon their angular relationship with the external magnetic field. Counters record the difference in time, measured from the immediately preceding zero current crossover points between the switching of each rod first to one of its remanent states and then to the other of said states. The time difference in one rod is proportional to the sine of the angle between the external field and said one rod and to the cosine of the angle between the external field and the other said other rod.

  • Patent number: 4224942
Abstract: A method for fractionating red blood cells by velocity sedimentation to remove those cells approaching lysis while at the same time maintaining the transfusability of the remaining cells.

  • Patent number: 4206437
Abstract: A movable member pressure transducer is disclosed which incorporates various thermal and manufacturing tolerance compensation features. These include a temperature compensating bimetal interposed between the movable member and the pressure sensing aneroid; a threaded engagement between a potentiometer wiper contact and a movable member used to generate an electrical signal corresponding to the position of a lower member, with the threaded engagement allowing adjustment of the zero position of the wiper contact with respect to the potentiometer resistive element; a cantilevered spring is mounted in contact with the free end of the movable member. The cantilever spring mounted in a holder is constructed of a material selected to have a coefficient of thermal expansion compensating for variations in sensitivity due to temperature changes by corresponding changes in the effective lever arm of the cantilever spring by shifting the point of contact of the end of the movable member with the cantilever spring.
