Abstract: A device includes memory and a processor configured to perform the following steps during a single visit by a customer to a merchant location: receive a sales amount, encode the sales amount and merchant financial information into an image, display the image on the display device, determine that the image has been scanned by a user device, and remove the image from the display device. The device is further configured to receive a confirmation number, transmit via a secure Internet connection with the financial institution a query requesting validation of the confirmation number, and receive via a secure Internet connection with the financial institution a confirmation message indicating that the confirmation number is valid. The device also displays information indicating that payment of the sales amount has been confirmed.
