  • Patent number: 5322027
Abstract: A sewing machine of a small size is enabled to deal with a fabric of an increased size to be sewn. A vertical spacing between an upper shaft mechanism and a lower shaft mechanism is adjustable. A need for a special control circuit which is designed for matching rotational positions of an upper and a lower shaft is dispensed with. At this end, a flexible wire 30 is used to connect an upper shaft unit 1 and a lower shaft unit 2 together. A single electric motor 10 is disposed within one of the upper and the lower shaft unit while a speed increasing mechanism 20 (or a speed reducing mechanism) is disposed in the other. An air cylinder 40 enables the vertical position of the upper shaft unit 1 to be adjustable.

  • Patent number: 5322028
Abstract: A sewing machine is disclosed in which an expenditure of lower thread is calculated from an expenditure of an upper thread. The expenditure of the upper thread is determined from the amount of rotation of a rotary tension disc. A pair of Hall elements deliver two phase signals, a phase difference therebetween is utilized to determine the direction of rotation, thus removing the likelihood of an error being caused by a rotation in the reverse direction. When the amount of leftover lower thread reduces below a given value, an alarm is issued. Where a plurality of needles are used, an expenditure of an upper thread is obtained for each tension disc, and the total expenditure is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5317981
Abstract: A sound of percussion or impact which is produced as a result of a vertical movement of a pressure foot driven in synchronism with a vertical movement of a sewing needle is eliminated. A sphere 15 exposed through the lower surface of a pressure foot 10 as well as a coiled compression spring 16 which urges the sphere are provided, so that the resilience of the spring is effective to suppress a vertical movement of the fabric while allowing a movement of a fabric 9 in a horizontal plane, thus eliminating the need for a vertical movement of the pressure foot as the needle is driven up and down. Alternatively, an independent drive source may be provided to move the pressure foot in synchronism with the vertical motion of the needle through a minimized stroke.

  • Patent number: 5313896
Abstract: A system for an embroidering machine has plural embroidering machines, display means, input means which has a keyboard and a means for inputting coordinates on a screen of the display, register memory means for storing plural embroidering patterns, image data and embroidering data and main control means. The main control means divides a screen of the display means into multiple screens in accordance with a number input by the input means, reads image data corresponding to the embroidering patterns selected by the input means from the register memory means, displays the image data on the multiple divided screens of the display means, and sends embroidering data corresponding to the selected embroidering patterns to the memory means of the embroidering machine. The main control means divides the screen of the display into smaller screens display multiple embroidering images on the screens. Thus an operator can see all embroidering patterns on the screen of the display before embroidering.

  • Patent number: 5253599
Abstract: An embroidering system comprises plural embroidering machines, a display, an input, a register memory for storing plural embroidering patterns, image data and embroidering data which includes data for characters of several languages having different character symbols in the same phonetic sound, and a main control. When an operator selects a desired language, the main control reads the image data which corresponds to the selected language from the register memory. When an operator selects a key on the keyboard, the main control checks a phonetic sound of that key to determine whether such phonetic sound corresponds to more than one character. If there is more than one character, the main control reads image data corresponding to all of the characters which have the same phonetic sound and displays all of the image data. An operator selects a desired character from the displayed characters.

  • Patent number: 5085160
Abstract: A device includes a driving device for driving an upper shaft. A moving blade is connected to the driving device via a clutch mechanism so as to be rotated by the driving device during on-condition of the clutch mechanism. A stationary blade cuts a thread held by a holding member in cooperation with the moving blade. A detecting device stops driving of the driving device based on a signal indicating the terminating of the moving blade while the moving blade and the driving device are connected. A range detecting device detects the rotation range of the upper shaft when the driving device is stopped based on a signal from the detecting device. A restarting device restarts the driving device based on a signal from the range detecting device.

  • Patent number: 4192157
Abstract: A knitting width indication system for hand knitting machines, wherein a fabric piece pattern memory device and a pattern width indication display device cooperating with the knitting machine carriage are provided, and whereby the knitting width is read out step by step from the pattern width electronic memory device in synchronism with the traversing movement of the carriage on a needle bed to display the knitting width of each knitting step on a pattern width indication display device. The pattern width electronic memory device stores a variety of fabric outline pattern data. The fabric outline width data are read out and displayed in serial order, in synchronism with each traversing movement of the carriage. Referring to the fabric outline width datum on the display device, the operator can set the proper knitting width on the needle bed.
