Abstract: A camera assembly including a motor drive unit is formed with a base casing having a very small thickness dimension which conforms to and is removably mounted on the bottom panel of the camera housing. A grip fixedly secured to the base casing and upwardly extending along the right front corner of the camera housing facilitates stable manual holding of the camera, and also houses an electric motor located internally within the grip. A speed reduction gear train located within the base casing connects the motor to a film winding mechanism in the camera housing, and a battery is located in an attachment casing removably mounted on the bottom of the base casing by a locking device which enhances the portability of the camera by facilitating removal of the attachment casing from the base casing.

It is particularly characterized by that a distance to an object is detected by irradiating a photoelectric conversion means with radiation and then comparing the signal outputted by said photoelectric conversion means with a prescribed reference signal.

Abstract: A camera having an objective and visual or automatic focusing means for the objective. For assistance in bringing into sharpest focus an image of an object formed by the objective at the focal plane of the camera, there is provided a sharp focus detecting apparatus constructed in the form of an attachment unit attachable to and detachable from the camera and essentially comprising an optical system subsidiary to the objective, photoelectric means arranged upon receiving light coming from the object through the objective and subsidiary optical system for producing an electrical output signal proportional to the degree of sharpness of the image and oscillatory motion imparting means or scanning means associated with the photoelectric means for periodically varying the spatial relationship along the projection path between the photoelectric means and the subsidiary optical system.

Abstract: A camera body is molded out of plastic, and a metal block is incorporated into the camera body as it is molded. The metal block has an aperture for determining the size of picture and a rail face for guiding the film. Mounted on the camera body, which is capable of being equipped with the film feeding mechanism, is a front plate unit presenting a mounting seat for the reflex mirror. The front plate is mounted directly on the metal block.

Abstract: A camera which permits mounting of an electric film rewinding device and which is provided with a compartment for inserting a film containing magazine. In the wall of the compartment, there is an opening which is provided with means for mounting and dismounting a manual film rewinding device in addition to electric rewinding device mounting means arranged at the same opening, so that the electric or manual film rewinding device can be interchangeably mounted on and detached from the camera.
