  • Patent number: 4347812
Abstract: A hydraulic valve lift device for transmitting the motion of a cam to a push rod of an intake or exhaust valve of an engine, including a housing, a lifter slidably engaged by the housing and provided therein with an oil pressure chamber adapted to receive an oil, and a plunger provided with a flange portion and slidable in relation to the lifter. The flange portion of the plunger and cylindrical bore of the housing cooperate with each other to define therebetween a braking chamber into which oil is introduced. The device has a slit through which the oil in the braking chamber is relieved to the outside. The arrangement is such that the rate of oil relieved through the braking chamber is reduced as the plunger is lowered. The device further includes a relief valve for maintaining the pressure in the braking chamber below a predetermined pressure level.

  • Patent number: 4237837
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculation control valve for a diesel engine. The valve comprises a valve casing of a rectangular cross-sectional shape disposed in the intake line of the engine. A valve seat connected to an exhaust line of the engine via an EGR passageway is formed in a side wall of the rectangular-shaped valve casing. A valve member is arranged in the casing and then rotated about an axis located upstream of the valve seat in such a manner that the valve member is moved between a position wherein valve member closes the valve seat and another position wherein the plate closes the intake passageway. The valve member comprises a base portion of a flat shape and a guide portion which is inserted into the valve seat when the degree of opening of the valve member is small.

  • Patent number: 4062334
Abstract: A fuel system for an internal combustion engine comprises a pair of carburetors provided one each on the exhaust and intake side of the engine. The fuel-air mixture from the first carburetor is heated by exhaust gas before being introduced into an intake manifold through a passage within a cylinder head. Throttle valves are associated with the respective carburetors and are controlled in an interlocked manner so as to open the throttle valve associated with the first carburetor while maintaining the other throttle valve closed during a partial load operation, and to open the throttle valve associated with the second carburetor to supply the air enriched mixture to the cylinders while closing the first mentioned throttle valve during a full load operation. Alternatively, a combined use of supply from the first and second carburetors concurrently may be chosen.

  • Patent number: 4043123
Abstract: A negative pressure generating system for an internal combustion engine powered vehicle, comprising a brake booster incorporated in the vehicle and adapted for an increase in braking power, an air cleaner for cleaning air to be supplied to the internal combustion engine, an air pump which receives air from said air cleaner and delivers the air to said internal combustion engine, and a valve disposed among said brake booster, said air cleaner and said air pump and operative in response to the booster pressure in said brake booster on receiving said pressure as an input signal, thereby interrupting air communication between said air pump and said air cleaner, with the result that the negative pressure arising on the suction side of said air pump is used as a negative pressure source for operating said brake booster.

  • Patent number: 3942494
Abstract: A fuel supply system having a fuel source, a nozzle disposed in an intake system of an internal combustion engine for injecting additional fuel into the intake system, a fuel pipe connected to the fuel source and the nozzle, an accelerating compensator responsive to the engine accelerator for feeding additional fuel from the fuel source to the intake system through the fuel pipe and the nozzle, a temperature sensing device for sensing temperature of the engine, and a controlling device responsive to engine temperature for controlling the volume of fuel fed by the acceleration compensator, the volume of fuel fed by the compensator being decreased as engine temperature increases.
