  • Patent number: 5702384
Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for gene therapy to transfer or introduce, in vivo, a gene for treatment into a cell located at a target portion of a patient, so that the gene can be transferred with a high probability within a short period of time. The apparatus is applicable to all cell species. In addition to simple supply of a gene to the cell of the patient, the gene is forcibly transferred to the cell without depending on natural cellular physiology. For example, catheters are mounted on a probe inserted into a body cavity, and the gene is supplied from a reservoir which stores the gene to the surface of a human living cell of the target portion in the body cavity through needle cannulas attached to the distal ends of the catheters. A pulse voltage is applied to the needle cannulas to form a pore in the surface of the human living cell upon application of the pulse voltage. The gene is transferred into the human living cell through the pore.

  • Patent number: 4674497
Abstract: A medical laser device includes a device body and a laser probe connected to the body. In the device body are arranged a laser source for emitting laser beams and an air pump. The laser probe has an outer tube, a laser guide extending through the tube, and an air supply passage defined between the inner surface of the tube and laser guide. The laser beams emitted from the laser source are guided through the laser guide and ejected from the distal end of the laser guide. A drying unit is connected to the discharge side of the pump. Air streams are supplied from the pump to the air supply passage after being dried by the drying unit, and then ejected from the air supply passage toward the distal end of the laser guide.

  • Patent number: 4489741
Abstract: An apparatus for washing an endoscope by spraying washing liquid thereagainst is disclosed, which comprises a housing including a washing tank, and a rotary body rotatably mounted on a central portion of the washing tank. The rotary body has a horizontal cylindrical inner space formed in its upper portion. The rotary body carries an upper nozzle, which includes a cylindrical body capable of being retracted into the cylindrical space and a nozzle tip provided on the free end of the cylindrical member and directed downwards. The cylindrical member has a piston provided on its rear end and biased by a spring in the direction of retraction of the cylindrical member into the cylindrical space. The rotary body also carries a lower nozzle secured to its lower portion and directed upwards. When pressurized washing liquid is supplied to the upper and lower nozzles, it is sprayed from these nozzles against an endoscope which is set at a level between these nozzles.
