  • Patent number: 5382218
Abstract: Predetermined magnet mountable seats are provided on the lower portion of a rotor at equal angular intervals around the central axis of the rotor so that magnets may be mounted in one or more of the magnet mountable seats in an array pattern. Various array patterns may be provided by different combinations of presence and absence of magnets depending on the types of rotors. Arranged on a fixed mount in opposing relation with the array of magnet mountable seats are magnetic sensors along a circle around the central axis at angular intervals equal to or smaller than the angular intervals of the magnet mountable seats. A microprocessor identifies the type of rotor by detecting the array pattern of magnets on the basis of detected outputs from the magnetic sensors.

  • Patent number: 5067938
Abstract: In a centrifugal separator which has in the top panel of its case an opening communicating with a rotor chamber and a control panel disposed behind the opening, a lid for covering the opening has a cutaway made in its lower portion for receiving the control panel and the pivot of the lid is extended laterally to the rear of the control panel. The lid is spring biased toward its open position and is opened by depression of a foot pedal that is connected to a lid lock mechanism. The control panel includes an indicator of rotor rotational frequency and rotor chamber temperature, the indicator being supplied with electrical signals produced by sensors within the case of the centrifugal separator.

  • Patent number: 4464161
Abstract: A centrifugal separator capable of selectively mounting sedimentation tubes or capillary tubes on a rotor includes a container receptacle mounted in an outer box of the separator for receiving sedimentation tube containers. When the sedimentation tube containers are received in the container receptacle, their presence is detected to enable the rotor to rotate at a relatively high speed required when the capillary tubes mounted on the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4460351
Abstract: A rotor for a centrifuge comprises a rotatable shaft, a disc-shaped bottom plate fixed to the rotatable shaft, and a holder plate mounted on the bottom plate for holding sedimentation tubes. The holder plate is bodily constructed of a thin plate and has a bent portion positioned between a center and outer edge thereof and projecting upwardly. The bent portion includes a surface directed toward the center of the holder plate and having a plurality of holes for insertion therethrough of the sedimentation tubes. The bottom plate has a plurality of holes aligned with the holes in the holder plate for receiving the sedimentation tubes therein.

  • Patent number: 4314662
Abstract: In a swinging type rotor of a centrifugal machine of the type wherein the rotor is provided with a plurality of equally spaced radial arms and each arm is provided with a pair of trunnion pins for hanging buckets, a through opening extending in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of each arm is formed near an outer end thereof. A holding shaft with its opposite end surfaces inclining away from the longitudinal axis is non-rotatorily inserted into the through opening and a pair of trunnion pins are threaded into the opposite end surfaces to hang buckets. Directions of screw threads of the pair of trunnion pins are opposite so that when the buckets are swung under centrifugal force, threading of the trunnion pins are tightened.

  • Patent number: 4099667
Abstract: An apparatus for preventing vibration in a centrifugal separator comprising an upright electric motor supported by a resilient member from a machine casing and wherein excessive vibration of the motor is detected for opening an electric power circuit of the motor. A mercury type vibration sensitive element is employed in the detector and comprises a mercury contact in a metallic casing. The vibration sensitive element is attached to a resilient plate and is in pressure contact with a lateral surface of a casing of the motor.
