  • Patent number: 7637731
Abstract: A honeycomb structure body molding die is disclosed including a die main body, having a feed bore section and a slit recess section, and a guide ring having an upright support section and a guide section carried on the upright section, which includes a stepped section and has a central slit recess forming section, provided on the stepped section, and an outer circumferential slit recess forming surface. The die main body has a non-opposing region, formed on an area outside the stepped section, in which the outer circumferential slit recess forming surface does not axially face the guide section, while having a feed bore closing region closing the feed bores. The die main body has outer circumferential-skin forming material feed passages formed in an area outside the feed bore closing region for feeding the molding material to a squeezing outlet for forming an outer circumferential skin.

  • Publication number: 20090028981
Abstract: A honeycomb structure body molding die for molding a honeycomb structure body having cells walls, a large number of cells surrounded with the cells walls, and a cylindrical outer circumferential skin is disclosed as including a die main body having material feed bores and slit recesses, and a guide ring. The guide ring has a guide section having an opposing guide surface, facing a slit recess forming surface of the die main body, which has an annular circumferential area formed with a pool recess, concaved from the opposing guide surface in an extruding direction, which is formed with a slanted surface tapered at an inclining angle ? satisfying the relationship expressed as 10°—??20° so as to decrease in depth as an inner radial end of the pool recess slanted surface approaches the guide end of the guide section.

  • Publication number: 20090028982
Abstract: An extrusion die for use of producing a honeycomb structure composed of cells surrounded by cell walls and an outer peripheral skin. The extrusion die has a die body part and a guide ring. Feeding holes and corresponding slit grooves are formed in the die body part. The guide ring has a pole part and a guide part. The specified feeding holes which are not correspond to any slit grooves are formed in the outside area of a slit groove formation area in the die body part. Through the specified feeding holes, raw material is fed in order to make the outer peripheral skin. The specified feeding holes are arranged in one or more ring-shaped rows. Each specified feeding hole in each ring-shaped row has a same distance to the front end of the guide part in the direction vertical to the extrusion direction of the raw material.

  • Publication number: 20090028980
Abstract: An extrusion die is used for producing a honeycomb structures. The extrusion die is composed of a guide ring and a die body part. Feeding holes and slit grooves are formed in the die body part. The guide ring has a pole part and a guide part. A slit groove formation area has a central slit groove formation surface area having a step shaped part and an outer peripheral slit groove formation area. An angle of the step-shaped part to an outer slit groove formation surface is within a range of 90°???95°, and a relationship A?B<1.5 A is satisfied, where A is a gap between the outer peripheral slit groove formation surface to the guide part, and B is a gap between the outer peripheral side surface of the step shaped part and the front end of the guide part.
