Abstract: A document management apparatus includes a processor configured to acquire a document name of a document including a designated string; in a case where the acquired document name is configured according to a naming rule used for automatic generation of a document name, specify meaning of a component including the designated text string, constituting the document name of the document, as supplementary information of the document name of the document, by using the naming rule; and output the document name of the document such that the meaning of the specified supplementary information is to be understood.

Abstract: Document retrieval system and method are disclosed which can diminish a gap between the user's retrieval intention in information retrieval and the configuration of a query as well as document representations in database and which permits easy retrieval reflecting the user's retrieval intention. The user enumerates a group of words which the user hits upon, as a primary query. Upon receipt of the primary query, the system estimates relational representations which the words (group) of the primary query can possess, and then makes expansion of the query through a partial coincidence of the relational representations and sample spaces extracted from document data to prepare a query candidate representation group. The expanded query candidate representation group is presented to the user. The user then simply chooses a relational representation candidate in accordance with his or her intention. A retrieval execution query is constituted by the thus-selected representation.

Abstract: Thesauruses meeting users' purposes are generated by various operations as required. A plurality of external thesauruses 2 each storing a thesaurus to be retrieved are connected to a thesaurus retrieval and synthesis device 3 through a network 1, wherein the thesaurus retrieval and synthesis device 3, on receiving a request to define the thesauruses to be synthesized from an input unit 5, retrieves partial thesauruses corresponding to the request from the external thesauruses 2 in a retrieval unit 32. A synthesis unit 33 forms a new thesaurus from a plurality of retrieved partial thesauruses by subjecting them to product, addition, and other operations corresponding to the request.

Abstract: A data management system in which a plurality of data each data comprising a set of three elements: a data name, a data body and a data retrieving keyword group whose content is not so described that the system is able to handle hierarchically and logically differentiating it and display areas of a data retrieval/display window or an editing window are arranged to manage data based on the above three sets. A data name can be automatically set as a retrieval key at the time of data editing. The system can handle a title or an index attached to each data of a data base, a character string corresponding to the title or index or a retrieval keyword as same with other data or an independent accessible manner. Further, the system creates another display area different in size from a display area for display of the retrieved data to display the same data as displayed on the display area for the retrieved data.
