  • Publication number: 20070297061
Abstract: In a projection type image display 50, LED's 51R, 51G and 51B are used as the light source so that the emitted light beam enters into an optical integrator 60. The optical integrator 60 is formed of four block materials 61 to 64 which are joined in the longitudinal direction, and a dichroic mirror 65R which reflects R light beams and transmits G and B light beams, a dichroic mirror 65G which reflects G light beams and transmits R and B light beams, and a dichroic mirror 65B which reflects B light beams and transmits R and G light beams are provided so as to be integrated with the joined surfaces which are inclined between the respective block materials 61 to 64.

  • Publication number: 20070200473
Abstract: The invention is to provide a simple and compact configuration which can still be improved in the efficiency of light condensation to a predetermined small-diametric area. The present invention is a device comprising: an arc tube 20 having a pair of main electrodes 21 and 22; and a reflector 30 for reflecting the outgoing light emitted from the arc tube 20, the electrode axis O1 of the main electrodes 21 and 22 being arranged to cross the light axis LA of the outgoing light. The reflector 30 is formed of a first reflector portion 31 having a spherical surface centered at the light generation point L0 of the arc tube 20 and a second reflector portion 32 having a curved surface different from the first reflector portion 31, and a condenser 40 that condenses the outgoing light emitted from the arc tube 20 to other than the second reflector portion 32 and illuminates the condensed light in a predetermined direction or to a predetermined area is provided.

  • Patent number: 6989845
Abstract: A gray level shift is detected as to adjacent pixels in the same field as that of an original signal inputted, so that gray level information is obtained. Concurrently with this step, a motion speed of the picture is detected as to each pixel of the original signal, so that motion information is obtained. A correction gray level signal according to the foregoing gray level information and motion information is obtained, and the correction gray level signal is outputted to the original signal. It therefore results in that a motion picture pseudo contour is detected as to two factors of space and time, and hence, not only the magnitude of gray level turbulence but also a range of pixels affected by the gray level turbulence can be accurately detected.

  • Patent number: 6956555
Abstract: An illumination control device for illuminating an light modulation information display device with light includes: at least one illumination device for irradiating light which is generated through discharging; and a driving waveform generation section for controlling the light which is irradiated from the at least one illumination device to the light modulation information display device. The light modulation information display device is operable so as to have a first period and a second period during which an image is displayed. During the first period, the driving waveform generation section applies a first voltage to the at least one illumination device, the first voltage causing the at least one illumination device to be turned entirely-ON. During the second period, the driving waveform generation section applies a second voltage to at least a portion of the at least one illumination device.
