  • Patent number: 5348929
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a fuel absorbent, which comprises the steps of: dissolving an organic polymer having a function of trapping fuel in a solvent to produce a polymer solution; adding a crosslinking agent to said polymer solution to allow said organic polymer to react in the presence of said crosslinking agent; and collecting, after the completion of the crosslinking reaction, the resultant fine polymer gel particles. The invention also relates to a porous fuel absorbent produced by the above process comprised of fine cross-linked organic polymer formed into particles. The above fuel absorbent along with coatings and a carrier may be used to control fuel evaporation loss in automobile canisters or boiler fuel tanks.

  • Patent number: 4645788
Abstract: The cold resistance of chloroprene rubber can be improved by blending an ester derived from a specified glycol component and a specified fatty acid component without any adverse effect upon the other physical and chemical properties of the rubber. This ester is not extracted with oily matters such as oil or grease, so that the resulting chloroprene rubber composition hardly exhibits a decrease in cold resistance even after extraction with oily matters.

  • Patent number: 4573693
Abstract: A dust boot for a constant velocity universal joint has a bellows-shaped boot made of chloroprene-rubber substantially excluding wax and a polyamide resin coating layer having excellent wear resistance, which is formed on the outer surface of the bellows-shaped boot without peeling. Between the coating layer and the polyamide resin boot is formed a primer layer made of a mixture of chloroprene-rubber and isocyanate compound so that the coating layer does not peel off from the bellow-shaped boot.
