    Abstract: A fuel supply device configured to supply fuel from an inside of a fuel tank to an internal combustion engine includes: a cover body that is installed to an upper wall of the fuel tank; a pump unit that is placed on a bottom wall of the fuel tank and is configured to discharge the fuel from the inside of the fuel tank toward the internal combustion engine; and a coupling stay that couples between the cover body and the pump unit. The coupling stay includes: an upper stay that extends on a lower side of the cover body; and a lower stay that is installed to the pump unit and is slidably fitted to the upper stay in a top-to-bottom direction. A stress concentrating portion, which reduces a section modulus to concentrate a stress around the stress concentrating portion, is formed at a specific location of the lower stay.

    Abstract: A bearing for a motorized fuel pump is made of a Cu—Ni based sintered alloy, composed of: 21 to 35% by mass of Ni, 5 to 12% by mass of Sn, 3 to 7% by mass of C, 0.1 to 0.8% by mass of P, and the balance of Cu and inevitable impurities. A matrix of the bearing is formed with pores with a porosity of 8 to 18%, and the P component is predominantly included at the grain boundary, and free graphite is distributed along the insides of open pores that are open to the surface and extending into the bearing. In this bearing, a Sn rich alloy layer containing equal to or more than 50% by mass of Sn is formed on the insides of the open pores and near openings of the open pores.

A press-feed pipe defines a fuel passage from the fuel pump to the reservoir tank. A branch pipe is provided to the press-feed pipe. The branch pipe defines a return passage that branches from the fuel passage. Fuel discharged from the fuel pump returns into the fuel tank through the return passage. A throttle unit is provided to the branch pipe for reducing a sectional area of the return passage. A relief valve is provided to the branch pipe for communicating the return passage when pressure in the return passage becomes equal to or greater than relief pressure.

A pressure regulator has a fuel pressure regulating chamber communicated to the fuel supply piping, and a back pressure chamber communicated to the back pressure introducing passage. When a fuel pressure in the fuel pressure regulating chamber is larger than a relief pressure that bulges the diaphragm toward the back pressure chamber, a relief valve opens a relief port to return the fuel from the fuel pressure regulating chamber to the fuel tank. The relief pressure is adjusted by controlling a fuel pressure in the back pressure chamber of the pressure regulator.

The elastic member is mounted to the sub-tank via an outer periphery of the elastic member.
