  • Patent number: 8134804
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention help to prevent dropout of a head slider from an micro electrical mechanical system (MEMS) and damage of the MEMS. In an embodiment of the present invention, a suspension for a slider dynamic electric test (DET) comprises an MEMS for supporting a head slider. The MEMS has a clamper for holding a head slider and the clamper moved by an external force can attach or detach a head slider. The suspension comprises limiters for limiting the clamper's lateral movement. The limiters limit the clamper's undesirable movement, which prevents the clamper's lateral movement in attaching a head slider, a head slider's dropout and the MEMS's damage caused by a contact with a magnetic disk, or a head slider's dropout and the MEMS's damage in handling.

  • Patent number: 5754361
Abstract: A tape cartridge is received into one end of an information recording and/or reproducing apparatus conforming to an 8 inch Form Factor Size. A first reel is held inside this tape cartridge, and a tape wound onto this first reel is extracted from a cartridge including the first reel and threaded by a simple pivotal motion of a tape threading arm, and wound onto a second reel disposed at the other end of the information recording and/or reproducing apparatus. The pivotal center of the tape threading arm and a recording head are disposed at opposite sides respectively with regard to a line joining a first and second reel axes to facilitate a compact overall construction. Tape guides formed into cylindrical rollers and the recording head are disposed on the inner side of the trajectory of the tape threading to transfer the tape smoothly. The tape guides and the recording head may be arranged substantially in line. Also, the tape guides next to the recording head may be fixed rollers.

  • Patent number: 4695909
Abstract: A magnetic head for recording and reproducing information on and from a flexible magnetic recording tape. The active face of tape supporting protrusions formed in the magnetic head is so configured that the contacting area between the supporting protrusion and the recording tape is smaller at both end portions of the protrusion than an intermediate portion thereof as viewed in the direction widthwise of the recording tape, whereby improved contacting state and floating state between the magnetic head and the recording tape can be assured over the whole width of the flexible recording tape.
