Patent number: 6472011Abstract: An L-carnitine agent has an indispensable function in the body and utility as a material for pharmaceutical agents or food and drink. By subjecting milk or modified milk products of mammals from which casein is removed, to the treatment of desalting and partial removal of lactose followed by drying, L-carnitine content, lactose content, and ash content are adjusted to 0.1˜100 mmol/100 g, 20˜95 g/100 g, and 5 g/100 g or less, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2001Date of Patent: October 29, 2002Assignee: Snow Brand Milk Products Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takafumi Yakabe, Kiyoko Ozaki, Masaharu Shimatani, Tadashi Idota

Patent number: 5686131Abstract: An edible oil or fat improved in oxidative stability and suppressed in the development of off flavor is obtained without impairment of high physiological functions inherent to highly-unsaturated fatty acids. To obtain the edible oil or fat, a specific polyunsaturated fatty acid-base oil or a particular fat and saturated fatty acid-base oil or fat are mixed and subjected to an interesterification reaction so that fatty acids are caused to bond at random on glycerol skeletons of the oil or fat to achieve the following properties:(a) the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids of at least three unsaturated bonds per molecule in fatty acid residual groups: 5 to 30%,(b) the content of saturated fatty acids free of any unsaturated bond: 50 to 80%,(c) iodine value: at least 35, and(d) melting point: 35.degree. C. or higher.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1995Date of Patent: November 11, 1997Assignee: Snow Brand Milk Products Co., Ltd.Inventors: Norifumi Sato, Yuzi Murakami, Tadashi Idota, Hiroaki Konishi, Kiyoshi Tatsumi, Mototake Murakami

Patent number: 5670201Abstract: A novel and low allergenic nutrient composition is discribed. The composition contains Kappa-caseinglycomacropeptide and, optionally, one or more other amino acid sources selected from amino acids, peptides, or proteins, as nitrogen sources. The nutrient composition provides a favorable taste, no allergenicity, a high nutritive value, good absorptivity and digestibility, and a superior antiinfective effect. It can be served as formulas, enteral feeding nutrients, tube feeding nutrients, or nutritious supplements.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1995Date of Patent: September 23, 1997Assignee: Snow Brand Milk Co., Ltd.Inventors: Nobuaki Takahashi, Sadao Asakawa, Shun-Ichi Dousako, Tadashi Idota

Patent number: 5344820Abstract: Disclosed herein is an infection protectant which is excellent in infection protective effects and is also safe. .kappa.-Casein, a sialic-acid-conjugated protein derived from cow milk, and a glycomacropeptide derived from .kappa.-casein, each of which is useful as an active ingredient in this invention, have been found to be effective for the prevention of adhesion of E. coli on cells and also for the inhibition of transformation of lymphocytes by EBV and also to have strong HI activity against virus. The infection protectant of this invention is hence believed to exhibit marked effects for the prevention of occurrence of infectious diarrhea, for mass protection against spreading of influenza, and also against canceration of lymphocytes. Since the active ingredient of the infection protectant is a substance derived from cow milk, it is free of any problem from the viewpoint of safety. Moreover, it is absolutely tasteless and odorless. It can therefore be added to foods for its application.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1992Date of Patent: September 6, 1994Assignee: Snow Brand Milk Products Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shunichi Dosako, Hiroko Kusano, Eiki Deya, Tadashi Idota

Patent number: 5330975Abstract: Sialic acid binding proteins, sialic acid-binding peptides and sialic acid containing oligo-saccharides are active ingredients of a novel bacterial enterotoxin neutralizer and interfere with the binding of enterotoxins, including cholera toxin, to receptors so as to exert an effect of neutralizing the toxicity, thus being utilized as an effective neutralizer and are safe and available cheaply and abundantly from by-products produced during the processing of cow's milk which renders the enterotoxin neutralizer economically advantageous for commercial use.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1992Date of Patent: July 19, 1994Assignee: Snow Brand Milk Products Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiroko Isoda, Yoshihiro Kawasaki, Morimasa Tanimoto, Shunichi Dosako, Tadashi Idota

Patent number: 5118516Abstract: Lactose containing physiologically-active sialic acids can be obtained by isolating and recovering the sialic acids together with lactose from a permeate or deproteinization solution obtained by ultrafiltration or heat treatment of whey or skim milk. The sialic acids-containing lactose is useful as an effective ingredient for foods, drugs, feeds, etc.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1990Date of Patent: June 2, 1992Assignee: Snow Brand Milk Products Company, LimitedInventors: Masaharu Shimatani, Yuzi Murakami, Tadashi Idota, Kazuo Ido

Patent number: 4795118Abstract: A body of a camera supporting device according to the present invention is provided with a grip which is shaped so as to permit a one-handed hold, and which incorporates a trigger. A shoe mounting surface is formed on the top of the body, and a shoe is mounted rotatably and detachably on the mounting surface. The shoe is fitted with a camera screw. A ball is fixed on a fixed base which is mounted on a tripod, and is rotatably housed in a cylindrical ball case. The ball case and the body are connected to each other. The ball is held beween an edge of the ball case and a ball retainer by means of the urging force of a compression coil spring. The ball retainer can be moved away from the ball, by means of a link mechanism, by squeezing the trigger, thereby permitting orientation in all directions of a camera mounted on the shoe mounting surface. The camera is locked in position when the trigger is released.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1987Date of Patent: January 3, 1989Assignee: Slik Tripod Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshinobu Kosugi, Tadashi Idota
