  • Patent number: 6080293
Abstract: An electrolytic test machine is used for a corrosion resistance test for a test material comprised of a metal blank and a coating film. The electrolytic test machine is constructed so that an adverse influence, due to chlorine gas generated during a test, can be inhibited. The electrolytic test machine includes an electrolytic cell in which an aqueous solution of NaCl is stored so that a test material is immersed in the aqueous solution of NaCl. An electrode is immersed in the aqueous solution of NaCl. A DC power source supplies electric current between the electrode and the test material. A chlorine gas treating device collects chlorine gas which is generated with electrolysis of the aqueous solution of NaCl and which is released out of the aqueous solution of NaCl along with the aqueous solution of NaCl. The chlorine gas treating device includes a treating pipe line, a suction pump mounted on the treating pipe line, and a chlorine gas purifying member.

  • Patent number: 6033554
Abstract: A process for promoting corrosion of a test material, is provided including the steps of immersing, in an electrolytic liquid, a test material which is comprised of a metal blank and a coating film formed on the metal blank, and allowing a DC current to flow between the metal blank and an electrode in the electrolytic liquid while reversing the polarity of the metal blank alternately from positive to negative and vice versa, thereby causing the coating film to be at least partly peeled off the metal blank in one state of polarity and promoting corrosion of the metal blank in the reversed state of polarity. The process may also be conducted with a metal blank having a damaged portion of the coating film which exposes a portion of the surface of the metal blank underlying the coating film.

  • Patent number: 6024861
Abstract: In an electrically corrosion-proofing process in which the polarity of a metal member having a coating film is set at negative, the duration of setting the polarity of the metal member immersed in an aqueous solution of NaCl at negative is made discontinuous, and a positive-set duration in which the polarity of the metal member is set at positive, is interposed between a proceeding negative-set duration and a succeeding negative-set duration. The switching-over of the polarity is carried out by a polarity switch-over relay between the metal member and a DC power source. In the negative-set duration, the treatment for corrosion-proofing of the metal member is carried out, but the peeling-off of the coating film from a starting point provided by a damaged portion is produced. In the positive-set duration, an electrolytic product is produced in an exposed portion of the metal member, and the peeling-off of the coating film in the next negative-set duration is prevented by the electrolytic product.

  • Patent number: 5980711
Abstract: An electrode is mounted in a vertical manner in an electrolytic liquid in an electrolytic cell. A harmful gas collecting hood is disposed within the electrolytic cell to cover the entire upper portion of the electrode. One end of a bottom surface of the hood lies at a higher location than the other end of the bottom surface of the hood. An inlet of a harmful gas treating pipe line is disposed in the vicinity of that portion of the bottom surface of the hood which lies at the higher location thereof. A harmful gas generated around the electrode is smoothly guided to the inlet by a guide effect of the hood and sucked into the inlet.

  • Patent number: 5972198
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a corrosion resistance test process, wherein the estimation of the corrosion resistance of an article formed of a metal material and a coating can be carried out synthetically and in a short time. In carrying out a corrosion resistance test, the article is immersed into an electrolytic solution and then, a voltage is applied to the metal material to carry out a metal material corroding step and a coating peeling-off step alternatively and repeatedly. The voltage applied to the metal material is a superimposed voltage Vd+Va resulting from superimposition of a DC voltage Vd and an AC voltage Va. A voltage condition of Vd<0 and Vd+Va>0 is established at the metal material corroding step, while a voltage condition of Vd<0 and Vd+Va<0 is established at the coating peeling-off step.

  • Patent number: 4949209
Abstract: In a thin-film magnetic head having a magnetic core (upper magnetic layer), in the electromagnetic conversion section, which are composed of an upper first magnetic film, inorganic insulating film, and an upper second magnetic film, the upper first magnetic film is used as a second wiring for electrical continuity between the coil and input/output terminal. The upper first magnetic film is connected to the center of a coil which is of a single-layer structure. The first upper magnetic film is made of a same material as the coil and is formed simultaneously with the latter. In the region in which an input/output terminal backing is formed, the upper first magnetic film of a second wiring is removed. Thus, the electrical continuity is established between the input/output terminal and the center of the coil. Also, the utilization of the upper first magnetic film as second wiring is applicable to a thin-film magnetic head having a coil of a multi-layer structure.

  • Patent number: 4841402
Abstract: A thin film magnetic head having two conductor layers provided within a magnetic circuit constituted by a first and a second magnetic member. The magnetic circuit has, at the side to which a recording medium is opposed, a portion where the first and second magnetic members are opposed to each other over a length substantially equal to a gap depth, intervening a non-magnetic gap member therebetween, and a portion ahead thereof where they are connected with each other. The edge of the gap member constitutes an aperture of the magnetic circuit. The thin film magnetic head arranged as above permits a high density recording without reducing its production yield.
