  • Patent number: 6009236
Abstract: A digital video signal record and playback device for recording on a recording medium a digital video signal coded by using a motion compensation prediction and an orthogonal transform and playing back data from the recording medium. In a data arrangement of a digital video signal, an I picture which can be independently represented in a picture is divided into n areas in the vertical direction, and the data is arranged from the front of one GOP in the unit of area by giving a priority to an area located at the center of the screen. A playback picture is outputted by playing back the I picture read from the recording medium in the unit of area unit. In the case where the whole I picture area cannot be read within a definite time, the area which cannot be read are interpolated by the use of the data of the preceding screen.

  • Patent number: 5949953
Abstract: In a video disk recording/playback device for converting a digital video signal or the like into high-efficiency coded data and recording the coded data on a video disk, or for restoring high-efficiency coded data recorded on the video disk and reproducing an output image, wherein said digital video signal is composed of a succession of video signals of a plurality of frames and including an I picture encoded within a frame, a P picture interframe coded by forward motion compensation with reference to said I picture and/or another P picture, and a B picture interframe coded by motion compensation in both directions with reference to said I and/or P pictures temporally preceding and succeeding the B picture, there are further provided a means for recording in an image information table set up on said video disk all of the start addresses of coded data representing selected images such as images to be retrieved and the start addresses of data containing information required for reproducing the coded data.

  • Patent number: 5249037
Abstract: In a motion-adaptive television signal processor, a field as a reference for a moving picture signal includes a signal delayed by a frame memory or a field memory. A non-standard signal is beforehand processed so as to separate Y and C signals, and the signal thus processed is input to a motion-adaptive processor to thereby reduce a deviation in center of gravity between a still picture signal and a moving picture signal on the timebase to thereby suppress unnatural motion of the picture.

  • Patent number: 4954885
Abstract: A filtering circuit separates from the composite color television signal both the luminance and chrominance signals that includes a delay circuit for delaying the composite color video signal. A first filter is also provided which is responsive to the video signal and the delayed video signal and extracts a chrominance signal corresponding to a frequency component of a color subcarrier in a vertical direction. A second filter is used which is responsive to at least the delayed video signal and extracts a chrominance signal corresponding to a frequency component of the color subcarrier in a horizontal direction. Lastly, a third filter is utilized which is responsive to the video signal and the delayed video signal and extracts a chrominance signal corresponding to a frequency component of the color subcarrier in both the vertical and horizontal direction.

  • Patent number: 4789890
Abstract: In a judgement circuit for an adaptive filter for use in a color television system, sample values of a composite video signal are obtained by sampling the composite video signal at a predetermined sampling frequency in synchronism with a horizontal scanning frequency in such a manner that the corresponding sample points are arranged in a grating on the screen. A horizontal filter receives the sample values corresponding to a first sample point and a second and a third sample points positioned at the left of and at the right of the first sample point. A vertical filter receives the sample values corresponding to the first sample point and a fourth and a fifth sample points positioned over and under the first sample point. The variation of the signal in the vertical direction and the variation of the signal in the vertical direction are detected, and are compared. One of the output of the horizontal filter and the output of the vertical filter is selected in accordance with the result of the comparison.
