  • Patent number: 6855747
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of easily producing a long-lived ion sensitive film having excellent durability and used in an ion sensor. The method starts with preparing a monomer mixture consisting chiefly of monomer units including a functional group and a second group of bonded atoms. The functional group has a function of identifying a certain chemical substance. The second group can become an active species that induces a polymerization or bridging reaction by being irradiated with an electron beam or radiation. Then, the monomer mixture is irradiated with the electron beam or radiation in a low energy range. Thus, the monomer mixture is polymerized.

Date of Patent: February 15, 2005
Assignees: JEOL Ltd., JEOL Engineering Co., Ltd.
Inventors: Tadashi Kawai, Hirohisa Yoshida, Tokuo Mizuno, Atsuro Tonomura, Naoki Aota

  • Patent number: 6251814
Abstract: This invention provides a light-weight pottery article with lower specific gravity than that of general pottery as well as a process for producing the same. The light-weight pottery article of the invention is produced by adding a lightening agent to clay based on silica and alumina, forming the resulting kneaded material into a desired form and calcinating the formed material, wherein the lightening agent is microspherical hollow ceramic powder having a hollow structure based on silica and alumina, the surface of said hollow ceramic powder is coated with an inorganic coating layer based on a silicate compound (e.g. sodium silicate, potassium silicate etc.), said hollow ceramic powder is contained in such a state as to be uniformly dispersed at a proportion of 20 to 80% by weight in the base materials, and in said base materials there is a structure in which the neighboring hollow ceramic powders have been integrated with one another via said inorganic coating layer.

  • Patent number: 5438203
Abstract: A magnetic deflection system for scanning an ion beam over a selected surface comprising: a magnetic structure having poles with respective scanning coils and respective pole faces that define therebetween a gap through which the ion beam passes; a primary current source coupled to the scanning coils adapted to apply to the scanning coils an excitation current to generate a substantially unipolar oscillatory magnetic field in the gap that alternates in polarity as a function of time to cause scanning of the ion beam, the substantially unipolar magnetic field having a magnitude sufficiently greater than zero to prevent the transverse cross-section of the ion beam from substantially fluctuating in size while the ion beam is being scanned across the selected surface.

  • Patent number: 4667621
Abstract: A system is disclosed for painting components of an automobile more efficiently and more economically. To achieve the efficient production of painted components, the painting system includes parallel input and output main transfer lines and a plurality of sub transfer lines which are located perpendicular to and between the parallel input and output main transfer lines.A plurality of input intersections are formed between the input main transfer line and the sub transfer lines, and a plurality of output intersections are formed between the output main transfer line and the sub transfer lines. Each sub transfer line includes a turntable within a painting booth which is located at a central portion of each sub transfer line and a painting device is located at the side of each turntable.Further, each sub transfer line includes at least an input side waiting position and at least an output side waiting position.
