    Abstract: A combustion apparatus and a combustion system for an internal combustion engine wherein a funnel-shaped cone with an orifice at the apex thereof is provided in a combustion chamber and spaced from an ignition apparatus so that as a gaseous, combustible mixture is introduced into the chamber, it flows through the cone to the orifice where it is ignited by the ignition apparatus so that the flame caused thereby explodes outwardly through ejection openings and along the external surface of the cone into the chamber so as to envelope the uncombusted gases and cause maximum explosion and combustion of the mixture automatically. The structure is applicable to existing conventional spark ignition engines when the cone is provided at the front end portion of the spark plug. For compression ignition engines, the cone is provided in a pre-combustion chamber in the cylinder head or is attached to the cylinder head and extends into a chamber provided in the piston.

    Abstract: A weighing balance to provide an average weight to an object which tends to move while being weighed such as a laboratory animal. The object to be weighed is placed on a receiving pan which provides an electrical analog output signal corresponding to the weight of the object. This signal after passing through an amplifier is converted to a digital electrical signal fed to a data input control means. A level detector setting means allows an output from said control means only when the weight on the balance reaches a predetermined level. The output from the control means is fed to a memory having a plurality of registers which store this information. Coupled on one side to this memory is a comparator which is also coupled on a second side to said control means. Also coupled to said comparator means is an allowable range means, sampling time means, and average calculating means. The average calculating means feeds an output to a printer.

    Abstract: A reproducing apparatus for a disk-shaped recording medium, wherein a pickup detects signals from a rotating disk-shaped recording medium in contact with the latter. The reproducing apparatus is so constructed that vertical and horizontal movements of the pickup can be selectively made by actuating only one control knob, and that the horizontal movement of the pickup is prevented when the latter is in contact with the disk-shaped recording medium, even if the control knob is erroneously or accidentally actuated.

    Abstract: The disclosure is concerned with a housing for a recording disc and a device for inserting the housing accommodating a recording disc on a recording/reproducing apparatus thereby avoiding direct contact of the operator's hand with the recording disc. The housing has a carrier or base plate for carrying the recording disc and a flexible cover fixed at one end to the carrier plate, the cover being adapted to cover the recording disc mounted on the carrier plate. The arrangement is such that the flexible cover is automatically taken off the carrier plate during insertion of the housing to bring the recording disc to its recording/reproducing position.

    Abstract: A signal reproducing system particularly adapted to be used with a high frequency signal such as a video signal. In this system, a record medium formed with a guide groove having an uneven pattern formed on an inner wall thereof with projections of the uneven pattern being located at intervals corresponding to time-axis changes in a time-axis modulated signal is scanned by a scanning member. The record medium is pressed by the scanning member along the guide groove, the scanning member being supported by an essentially elastic material. A change in the inclination angle of the scanning member with respect to the record medium occurs when a portion of the tip end of the scanning member engages with or disengages from the projections. The change in inclination angle is detected by a mechanical-electrical transducing element arranged in contact with the scanning member as an electrical signal to produce a reproduced signal.
