  • Patent number: 5654550
Abstract: A signal processor which is capable of amplifying, at a predetermined amplification factor, only AC components of input signals Vin received from a pyroelectric infrared sensor or sensors. The signal processor essentially includes a low-pass filter circuit (11) for passing on only a DC component of an input signal (Vin) received from a pyroelectric infrared sensor (1), and a differential amplifier circuit (21) arranged to amplify only an AC component of the input signal (Vin) on the basis of a DC signal (VDC) passed through the low-pass filter circuit (11) and the input signal (Vin) received from the pyroelectric infrared sensor(1). Along with the input signal (Vin) from the pyroelectric infrared sensor, the differential amplifier circuit (21) is supplied with the DC signal (VDC) which is a DC component of the input signal (Vin) which has been passed through the low-pass filter circuit.

  • Patent number: 5610899
Abstract: An optical disk drive includes a spindle motor fixed on a base, a moving section carrying an optical head, a plurality of rolling members carried by the moving section, a pair of rails fixed on the base and carrying the rolling members for moving the moving section to any target position of a disk medium. A ferromagnetic member is fixed on the base and a permanent magnet fixed to the moving section faces the ferromagnetic member with a predetermined space being provided with respect to the ferromagnetic member. With this arrangement, the disk drive requires only five rolling member. Due to a magnetic attracting force produced between the ferromagnetic member and the permanent magnet, the moving section and the rail members are under appropriate pressure contact, which makes it possible to provide a simple, compact and low cost pressure contact mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5599085
Abstract: An inventive headlight and a method for controlling a light distribution of the headlight of a motorcycle effectively eliminating the problem of a deteriorated light distribution pattern of a conventional headlight that becomes apparent typically when the motorcycle is tilted to maneuver the motorcycle along a curved road. A headlight 1 comprises a mirror reflector 3 divided into an upper left movable section 32, an upper right movable section 33 provided with respective pivots 32a and 33a. When the motorcycle is tilted, the tilted or lowered one of the movable sections 32 and 33 is driven to turn upward by a corresponding solenoid type driving unit 5 according to a tilt sensor 22 to face the forward of the moving motorcycle and produce a light 5 distribution pattern aligned with the direction along which the motorcycle moves so that any possible deterioration in the light distribution pattern can be effectively corrected.

  • Patent number: 5251201
Abstract: An optical disk device of the type having two optical heads for accessing both sides of an optical disk at the same time. The device has a loading mechanism which moves two subbases each carrying one of the two heads therewith in opposite directions, i.e., toward or away from an optical disk. The weight of one subbase and members mounted thereon and the weight of the other subbase and members mounted thereon act in opposite directions with respect to the drive force of the loading mechanism and thereby cancel each other.

  • Patent number: 4615023
Abstract: A beam access apparatus for an optical disc system. The apparatus includes a lens position detector for generating a lens position signal indicating a position of the objective lens in a radial direction of the disc with respect to the optical head which is movable relative to the disc. The apparatus is operated in a head access mode in which the optical head is moved in the radial direction of the disc and the objective lens is caused to follow the movement of the optical head such that the objective lens is positioned at a predetermined location with respect to the optical head. The apparatus is also operable in a lens access mode wherein the objective lens is moved in the radial direction and the optical head is caused to follow the objective lens such that the objective lens is located at a predetermined position with respect to the optical head.

  • Patent number: 4313074
Abstract: A digital servo control system is responsive to a command signal indicative of a command position of a moveable element and to a phase modulated signal corresponding to the angle of rotation of a motor controlling said moveable element to develop a motor drive signal to position the motor. The system provides control during a velocity control mode and a position control mode, the latter occurring after the moveable element is moved to a predetermined small incremental distance from the commanded position. During the velocity control mode the motor is driven in accordance with a reference velocity selected in dependence upon the position error signal. Following a prescribed time after entry into the position control mode, the position error has added thereto an integration signal which increases in the same sense as the position error.

  • Patent number: 4259626
Abstract: In a digital servo control system (31) for a carriage of a serial printer or a like movable element, a control signal (125) digitally represents a reference angular velocity for a motor (26) until an instant at which a displacement from a current position of the element to a commanded position decreases to a predetermined value, a positional error during a preselected interval following the instant, and an integrated value (52) of a position error between the current and the commanded positions to suppress limit cycle after the interval. A PWM signal (56-57) is derived from the control signal and position pulses (62 or 63) representative of a variation in the current position. Preferably, small-amplitude limit cycle is forced to occur during the interval with the positional error indicated by a modified signal (182) derived by adding unity to positive and zero position errors.
