  • Publication number: 20020184628
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of transmitting/receiving additional information. The method includes the steps of transmitting video, audio, trailer, and EPG(program guide) signals respectively having independent PIDs(packet identification numbers), receiving the transmitted signals and extracting the video, audio, EPG, and trailer signals from the received signals, displaying the extracted EPG, and displaying the trailer signal for a selected broadcast program of the EPG. Preferably, the trailer is displayed as a motion picture or still image. Accordingly, when the audience selects a specific program on an EPG screen, the present invention displays a summary or preview of the selected program. Therefore, the transmitting side such as a broadcasting station enables to inform the audiences of the corresponding program of the broadcasting station, and the audiences are helped to select programs through program previews or summaries.

  • Patent number: 6456854
Abstract: A system and method for locating mobile telephone devices via the Web. The mobile telephone device obtains and provides its location to a Web server in GPS latitude and longitude format. The communication between the Web server and the mobile telephone device may be through a browser or through mobile originated short message service. The Web server records the location information along with the time of receipt. Over time, the Web server may record several locations for a single mobile telephone device so that the progress of the mobile unit may be mapped. The information contained in the Web server is accessible to devices with Web browsing capabilities. A Web browsing device queries the Web server for location information pertaining to a particular mobile telephone device. The Web server may require authorization for such information before sending the location to the requesting device.

  • Patent number: 6183835
Abstract: A reinforced fiber sheet for use in repairing/reinforcing concrete structures including a net-shaped fabric substrate and reinforcing fibers uni-directionally and uniformly arranged on either side or both sides thereof. Also, a reinforced fiber sheet for use in repairing/reinforcing concrete structured including a first and a second substrate and reinforcing fibers uni-directionally and uniformly interposed between the first and second substrates. The substrate is a net-shaped fabric formed by cross-arranging organic or inorganic fiber strands and impregnating them with thermoplastic resins, and the reinforcing fiber is attached and bonded to the substrate by the thermoplastic resin.

  • Patent number: 6185170
Abstract: A tracking method discriminates whether an optical disc loaded in a recording and/or reproduction system is a shallow groove type optical disc or a deep groove type optical disc, and corrects the phase of the tracking error signal detected from the optical disc according to the discrimination result, to then perform a tracking servo control using the corrected result. A tracking apparatus includes an optical signal detector detecting a tracking error signal from an optical disc loaded in a recording and/or reproduction system. A groove type discriminator analyzes the tracking error signal output from the optical signal detector to discriminate a groove type of the loaded optical disc and generates a corresponding control signal. A phase corrector corrects the phase of the tracking error signal output from the optical signal detector according to the control signal applied from the groove type discriminator.

  • Patent number: 5982759
Abstract: A method for generating dummy frequencies to make frequency hard handover smooth in provision of a digital CDMA mobile communication service when base stations are different in frequency configuration. The coverage of each of the dummy frequencies becomes the same as that of a service frequency using basic signals of the service frequency. According to the present invention, a pilot channel signal, a sync channel signal, a paging channel signal and traffic channel signals of the service frequency are placed directly on each of the dummy frequencies. Therefore, the coverage of the dummy frequency can always become the same as that of the service frequency which is varied according to a traffic amount of the base station, so that a mobile station can perfectly perform the frequency hard handover. Further, one power combiner, one power amplifier and one power divider are provided to process all of the dummy frequencies.
