Publication number: 20170313276Abstract: A vehicle airbag includes a main panel to form a main chamber deployed toward an inner part of a vehicle, and a protrusion panel provided outside the main panel to form at least one protrusion chamber that communicates with the main chamber and protrudes toward the inner part of the vehicle based on the main chamber. The protrusion panel is folded to have a wrinkle part when the vehicle airbag is not inflated.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2015Publication date: November 2, 2017Applicant: Autoliv Development ABInventors: Wan-Dong YOO, Yong Hyun JUNG, Tae Ik GWON, Dong Young KIM

Publication number: 20170151925Abstract: A side curtain airbag for a vehicle includes a serial main chamber that inflates and deploys along an interior side surface of the vehicle; a protruding chamber disposed at a front side of the main chamber to further protrude toward an interior of the vehicle relative to the main chamber; and a cutting line arranged between the main chamber and the protruding chamber to partially separate the protruding chamber from the main chamber such that the protruding chamber overlaps with a portion of the main chamber upon non-inflation of the airbag. In this configuration, upon a vehicle collision, the head portion of the occupant is prevented early from being ejected toward the front of the vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 8, 2015Publication date: June 1, 2017Applicant: Autoliv Development ABInventors: Chi Ho KIM, Tae Ik GWON, Yong Hyun JUNG

Patent number: 9623829Abstract: A side airbag module for a vehicle includes an airbag cushion and an inflator to supply gas to the airbag cushion to deploy the airbag cushion. The airbag cushion includes first and second regions to protect a shoulder and a chest of an occupant, respectively, and, when the airbag cushion is initially deployed by driving of the inflator, the first region pushes the shoulder of the occupant toward an interior of a vehicle so that a portion of load applied from the second region to the chest of the occupant is moved to the shoulder of the occupant. When the airbag cushion is initially deployed due to vehicle collision, the shoulder of the occupant is pushed toward the interior of the vehicle to move the load applied to the chest of the occupant to the shoulder of the occupant, thereby minimizing the injury degree of the occupant.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2013Date of Patent: April 18, 2017Assignee: AUTOLIV DEVELOPMENT ABInventors: Tae Ik Gwon, Soon Bok Lee, Do Hun Kim

Patent number: 8985625Abstract: An airbag arrangement includes a middle side airbag confined between an arm-rest and a seat. The middle side airbag protects a driver of a vehicle and a passenger from the collision between the driver and the passenger upon vehicle collision. A cushion inflated from a back part of a driver seat is firmly fixed between the driver seat and an arm-rest to restrict the movement of occupants. The middle side airbag includes vertical sewed lines to vertically form a partition, or includes inclined sewed lines to inflate the middle side airbag toward at an expected collision position between the driver and the passenger. An inflator is provided on a lateral surface of a back part of the driver seat. As soon as air is injected into the middle side airbag, the middle side airbag is inflated while forming contact parts confined in the space between an arm-rest and a seat.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2011Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: Autoliv Development ABInventors: Tae Ik Gwon, Soon-Bok Lee
