  • Patent number: 7433001
Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display (LCD) device equipped with a resin black matrix, capable of preventing the light leakage phenomenon by improving an OD (optical density) value of the resin black matrix. The LCD device includes an array substrate formed with a thin film transistor and a pixel electrode, a color filter substrate aligned opposite to the array substrate and formed with a resin black matrix and a color filter, a liquid crystal layer aligned between the array substrate and the color filter substrate, and lower and upper polarizing plates attached to outer surfaces of the array substrate and the color substrate and having transmission axes extending in the same direction. The resin black matrix has a transmission axis perpendicular to the transmission axes of the lower and upper polarizing plates so that the resin black matrix has a polarizing function.

  • Patent number: 7048619
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rubbing machine with realigning functions for use in an LCD manufacturing process and also to a rubbing method which is conducted using the same. The rubbing machine is used to determine the direction of alignment by rubbing an alignment film coated on a substrate disposed on a stage. In this rubbing machine, an realigning section for realigning a rubbing cloth is disposed on the portion of a rubbing roll in such a manner that the realigning section be in contact with the rubbing cloth.

  • Publication number: 20030142248
Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device and method for manufacturing the same. The method comprises the steps of: preparing a transparent insulation substrate; forming a black matrix on the substrate and then forming a color filter layer on the black matrix; forming an indium tin oxide (ITO) or overcoating layer on the color layer; forming a pattern of post spacers on the ITO or overcoating layer; and forming a liquid crystal layer on the substrate by means of polymer dispersed liquid crystal. According to the present invention, the need for polyimide (PI) coating and rubbing processes can be obviated by using a post spacer color filter having a uniform cell gap and by using a polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC), and the time for injecting liquid crystal can be decreased by using a one-drop filling (ODF) approach. Therefore, it has an improved screen grade, a decreased processing step and a cost-effective processing step.
