  • Patent number: 6788355
Abstract: A method for fabricating an active matrix LCD panel for use in an active matrix LCD device includes the step of forming a passivation layer acting as a channel protection layer for protecting an amorphous silicon active layer, thereby reducing the number of photolithographic steps. A transparent conductive film is used for forming a gate electrode and a pixel electrode before formation of an amorphous silicon film for the TFTs.

  • Patent number: 6429910
Abstract: In order to use an auxiliary wiring 4 formed on one of opposing substrates as a bypass line of one of circuit lines arranged in matrix on the same substrate, which has a broken portion, cross points (A and B) of the auxiliary wiring 4 and the broken circuit line are electrically connected by removing an insulating film between the auxiliary wiring and the circuit line by irradiating these cross points with a laser beam. An electrostatic protective element 10 is provided in each of cross points of the auxiliary wiring and the circuit lines and the auxiliary wiring is connected to a common terminal 13 connected to an opposing electrode formed on the other opposing substrate such that the potential of the auxiliary wiring can be removed.

  • Patent number: 6404466
Abstract: A thin film transistor array for improving writing characteristics into a pixel electrode without a decrease in aperture ratio is provided. A source electrode of a thin film transistor for writing and a source electrode of a thin film transistor for preliminary charging are electrically connected to a pixel electrode. A semiconductor pattern of the thin film transistor for preliminary charging is formed so as to cover a region of intersection of a scanning line 1a and a signal line and a part of a region of formation of a gate storage capacitance.

  • Patent number: 6297867
Abstract: The present invention discloses a liquid crystal display device which is arranged by: (A) the first substrate including a plurality of scanning lines and a plurality of signal lines arranged in a matrix form; a common signal line extended in parallel to one of the scanning lines and the signal lines, for applying a reference potential thereto; a pixel electrode; and a thin-film transistor having a source electrode connected to the pixel electrode, a drain electrode connected to the signal line, and a gate electrode connected to the scanning line, the thin-film transistor being formed in an intersection portion between the scanning line and the signal line; (B) the second substrate including a black matrix layer and positioned opposite to the first substrate with sandwiching a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate; and (C) an insulating layer sandwiched between the pixel electrode of the first substrate and the scanning line.

  • Patent number: 6075507
Abstract: An active matrix liquid display system where two scanning lines are successively selected within one horizontal scanning period, by which display voltages are written on pixels lined up in a horizontal direction, and the voltage supplied to a signal line when an even number display pixel is selected and the voltage supplied to a signal line when an odd number display pixel is selected are switched according to a gradation voltage generated from a gradation power source. Accordingly, when there is implemented a dot inversion drive in the active matrix liquid display system where there are less number of signal line drive circuits, and when a former stage pixel is subjected to modulation due to interpixel parasitic capacitance, it is possible to equalize an electric voltage of the former stage pixel being modulated as a latter stage pixel is being written with an electric voltage of the latter stage pixel, owing to revision of a gradation voltage of the former stage pixel.
