  • Patent number: 8952941
Abstract: A display device capable of accurately sensing object presence at lower power consumption is presented, as well as a method of driving the display device. The display device includes a sensing circuit that detects the presence of an object by sensing radiation, and a radiation source array that provides radiation to the sensing circuit. First signals are provided to the scan lines of the sensing circuit, sequentially activating the sensors during a frame period. Second signals are provided to a radiation source array to selectively activate different portions of the radiation source array. The first and second signals are synchronized in their timing such that the portion of the radiation source array that supplies radiation to the activated sensors are turned on.

  • Publication number: 20110267841
Abstract: Disclosed is a display apparatus. The display apparatus includes a light guide plate, a light source section, a light guide member, and a display panel. The light guide plate has a light incident surface and a light exit surface connected to the light incident surface. The light source section faces the light incident surface and has a plurality of light sources to output the light. The light guide member has a plate-like shape with first and second surfaces facing each other, in which the first surface contacts the light source section, and the second surface contacts the light incident surface, and guides light to the light guide plate. The display panel receives light output through the light exit surface to display an image.

  • Patent number: 6294647
Abstract: Thermally stable polymers comprising resorcinol arylate chain members are prepared using an interfacial method comprising the steps of: (a) combining at least one resorcinol moiety and at least one catalyst in a mixture of water and at least one organic solvent substantially immiscible with water; and (b) adding to the mixture from (a) at least one dicarboxylic acid dichloride while maintaining the pH between 3 and 8.5 through the presence of an acid acceptor, wherein the total molar amount of acid chloride groups is stoichiometrically deficient relative to the total molar amount of phenolic groups.

  • Patent number: 6084055
Abstract: Polyesters such as poly(1,4-cyclohexanedimethyl-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate) are prepared by the reaction of at least one relatively non-volatile diol, preferably 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, with a 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid ester in the presence of a catalyst such as a tetraalkyl titanate. Maximum molecular weight and crystallinity are provided by at least one of two options: conducting the reaction at a series of progressively increasing temperatures below 265.degree. C., with a residence time in the range of 40-120 minutes at temperatures above 250.degree. C.; and conducting an initial stage of the reaction in the presence of at least one C.sub.2-6 aliphatic diol such as ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol or 1,4-butanediol.

  • Patent number: 5712408
Abstract: The invention provides a compound having conjugated double bonds in an acyclic structure formed by Schiff base reaction between an unsaturated aldehyde (RCHO) and diaminomaleonitrile (DE). The compound is a monoalkylated DAMN derivative having one unit of diaminomaleonitrile for every unit of alkyl (RC) derived from the unsaturated aldehyde. The invention also provides a polymer having an acyclic structure and containing monomeric units formed by Schiff base reaction between an unsaturated aldehyde and a diaminomaleonitrile.
