    Abstract: An apparatus and method for using an alarm function in a portable terminal is provided. In the method, a residual battery voltage of the portable terminal is checked, the portable terminal is turned off when the residual battery voltage becomes identical to a threshold voltage, and the portable terminal is turned on to generate an alarm when the present time becomes identical to a preset alarm time.
