  • Patent number: 11785525
Abstract: A method may include identifying paths from a user equipment (UE) device to an anchor station, determining that a first path corresponds to a direct wireless link to the anchor station and determining, in response to determining that the first path corresponds to a direct wireless link, a signal quality and a congestion associated with the direct wireless link. The method may also include selecting, in response to determining that the signal quality satisfies a signal quality threshold and the congestion satisfies a congestion threshold, the first path for the UE device to use when communicating with the anchor station. The method may further include identifying, in response to determining that the signal quality does not satisfy the signal quality threshold or the congestion does not satisfy the throughput threshold, another path for the UE device to use when communicating with the anchor station.

  • Publication number: 20230199440
Abstract: A Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) device, associated with a base station, may include a processor configured to receive a request to send data to a plurality of user equipment (UE) devices. The MEC device may be further configured to determine that the data is to be delivered to the plurality of UE devices by the base station via multicast; determine signal quality values for the plurality of UE devices; select a subset of the plurality of UE devices based on the determined signal quality values; and send, using the base station, the data to the selected subset of the plurality of UE devices via multicast, and delaying or terminating delivery of the requested data to UE devices, of the plurality of UE devices, that are not in the selected subset.

  • Patent number: 9559965
Abstract: A device may receive machine-to-machine (M2M) traffic associated with an M2M application. The device may determine parameters associated with managing the M2M traffic. The parameters may include information identifying a time window. The device may determine a weighted average traffic rate associated with the M2M traffic based on the parameters. The device may determine a holding time to be applied to the M2M traffic based on the weighted average traffic rate and the parameters. The device may determine an outgoing traffic rate to be applied to the M2M traffic based on the weighted average traffic rate and the parameters. The device may manage the M2M traffic based on the holding time and the outgoing traffic rate.

  • Patent number: 9253102
Abstract: A device may receive machine-to-machine (M2M) traffic associated with two or more M2M applications. The M2M traffic may include information that identifies two or more priority levels associated with the M2M traffic. The device may determine parameters associated with managing the M2M traffic. The device may determine a traffic rate, an overall holding time, and an outgoing traffic rate associated with the M2M traffic. The device may determine a normalization factor based on the overall holding time and the parameters. The device may determine a set of priority level holding times based on the normalization factor, the overall holding time, and the parameters. Each priority level holding time may be associated with a priority level of the two or more priority levels. The device may manage the M2M traffic based on the set of priority level holding times and the outgoing traffic rate.

  • Patent number: 9100856
Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a distribution management device, a request for a content item from a requesting local device. The distribution management device is at a first level of a content distribution architecture, the requesting local device is one of a plurality of local devices at a second level and each local device serves a plurality of sub devices at a third level. A determination whether the requested content item is available from the distribution management device is made. At least one other local device that has the requested content item is identified if the requested content item is not available. A minimum routing cost local device for the requested content to the requesting local device is determined based on the identified at least one other local device. A request for the requested content is sent to the identified minimum routing cost local device.

  • Patent number: 8665881
Abstract: Systems and methods for scheduling wireless communications of a base station with multiple user mobile stations involve grouping the user mobile stations in clusters based on a predetermined criterion, such as a QoS profile of a user mobile station. Each cluster is assigned with a cluster weight factor that defines a priority level of the cluster. For each user mobile station in each cluster, a priority index may be determined based on the cluster weight factor of a respective cluster, and throughput and fairness factors respectively selected to maximize throughput and provide fairness to user mobile stations. The user mobile stations may be served in an order based on their priority indexes.

  • Publication number: 20110032862
Abstract: Quick wireless access for data network communication is provided to a data device by provision of an access management unit incorporated in the data device. A default network access identifier (NAI), unique to the data device, permits limited access to a wireless network provider's provisioning platform so that the device can be authenticated and access to a data network authorized for a preset service period. Replenishment for a new service period may be provided.
