Patent number: 11944795Abstract: An injection device is disclosed comprising a plunger for expressing medicament from a syringe and a delivery mechanism arranged in use to provide a forward biasing force to urge the plunger from a first rearward position to a second forward position to express a dose from the syringe. A latch arrangement is provided that releasably holds the plunger against the force of the delivery mechanism. The latch arrangement comprising at least two resilient segments which define opposing sections of an aperture within which a rearward end of the plunger is retained in the rearward position. A trigger is provided for releasing the plunger in use, the trigger being arranged to outwardly deflect at least one of the resilient segments such that the aperture is expanded to release the rearward end of the plunger. A method of manufacturing the injection device is also enclosed.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2021Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: Owen Mumford LimitedInventors: Callum Davies, Abiodun Falodi, Matthew Farmer, Oliver Gould, Oliver Hyde, Parshia Moghadas, Timothy Muller, Tahir Shabudin

Publication number: 20220273875Abstract: Disclosed is an auto-injection apparatus for receiving a syringe, including: an outer casing enclosing a drive assembly and a syringe carrier configured to hold a barrel of the syringe, the syringe carrier being forward of the drive assembly and having stowed and delivery positions; an interlock extending between the syringe carrier and a syringe carrier housing at least partially surrounding the syringe carrier, the interlock preventing forward motion of the syringe carrier under the influence of an insertion actuator whilst in the stowed position. The drive assembly includes the insertion actuator for inserting a needle of the syringe into an injection site and a delivery actuator for driving a plunger into a barrel of the syringe which contains a substance for injection. The syringe carrier includes an interlock release mechanism which is configured to release the interlock such that the insertion actuator drives the syringe carrier forward.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2022Publication date: September 1, 2022Inventors: Matthew John Dobson, Oliver Gould, Andrew Hung, Tahir Shabudin, Matthew David Farmer, Kuiwei Zhang

Patent number: 11426519Abstract: An autoinjector includes: an insertion spring between a housing and plunger assembly; a syringe driver; a second release mechanism releasing the plunger assembly from the housing, causing the insertion spring to move the plunger assembly through the housing with a syringe driver; a stop limiting movement of the syringe driver in the housing; and a third release mechanism releasing the plunger assembly from the syringe driver upon engagement with the stop, allowing the plunger assembly to continue through the housing. The first release mechanism releases the plunger from the delivery spring housing upon contact between the plunger assembly and a bung, causing the delivery spring to separate the delivery spring housing and the plunger, applying a delivery force to a bung. A latch mechanism latches the delivery spring housing at a forward position, preventing rearward movement of the delivery spring housing following release of the plunger.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2018Date of Patent: August 30, 2022Assignee: Owen Mumford LimitedInventors: Tahir Shabudin, Matthew John Dobson

Publication number: 20220233779Abstract: Apparatus and methods of assembling apparatus (e.g. a pre-filled syringe). The methods comprising setting a length of a plunger rod of a plunger rod assembly, and fitting the plunger rod assembly to a barrel of the syringe, the barrel having an opening at a forward end thereof and comprising a bung positioned therein and creating a volume between the bung and the opening, the volume at least partially filled with a substance for delivery from the syringe. Setting the length of the plunger rod assembly may comprise at least partially inserting the plunger rod into the barrel such that a forward end of the plunger rod contacts the bung, wherein, after assembly, the length of the plunger rod defines a separation between the bung and the forward end of the plunger rod.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2020Publication date: July 28, 2022Inventor: Tahir SHABUDIN

Patent number: 11364342Abstract: An injection device for delivering a dose of medicament from a syringe (5), the injection device comprising a housing (10), a plunger (210) moveably mounted within the housing (10), an actuation mechanism (200), a trigger mechanism (40), and a plunger velocity regulator. The actuation (mechanism (100) is arranged to provide a forward biasing force to urge the plunger (210) forward in use to express a dose of medicament, and the trigger mechanism (40) is arranged to releasably hold the plunger (210) against the force of the actuation mechanism (200). The plunger velocity regulator comprises a cam surface (262) associated with the housing, and a cam member (252) associated with the plunger (210) and arranged to engage the cam surface (262) during actuation movement of the plunger (210) such that axial movement of the plunger (210) relative to the housing (10) causes relative rotational movement of the cam member (252) which limits the forward velocity of the plunger movement.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2017Date of Patent: June 21, 2022Assignee: Owen Mumford LimitedInventor: Tahir Shabudin
