  • Patent number: 7137300
Abstract: An accelerometer device comprises a dielectric seismic mass separated by a gap from an underlying comb-shaped planar capacitor. The principle for measuring acceleration detecting capacitance change according to movement of the dielectric mass in the fringe electrical field. This measuring principle is verified by FEM simulation. The simple structure of the accelerometer device allows the polymer Parylene to be used as the proof mass, greatly simplifying the technology by requiring only surface micromachining. Prototype accelerometers are fabricated and calibrated with the aid of off-chip capacitive readout IC.

  • Patent number: 7138041
Abstract: An electrochemical biosensor formed by screen printing and method of fabricating such biosensor is disclosed in the present invention. The biosensor can quickly absorb a sample to be measured therein, effectively control volume of the sample fed and “fill-and-position” the sample therein. The biosensor includes an electrode layer (electrode area) comprising two or three electrodes, which are a working electrode, a reference electrode and an auxiliary electrode (tri-electrode) on an insulating substrate. An active reaction layer containing reactant, reaction catalyst, mediator, wetting agent and surfactant is spread on the surface of the electrode layer. A sample inflow area is formed above the electrode area by adding an upper cover on top of a middle insulating layer with a U-shaped opening formed therein. Sample solution with a minute amount about 0.

  • Patent number: 7139521
Abstract: Gloss, differential gloss, and image relief of a printed image may be controlled by utilizing a combination of technologies in the appropriate manner. These technologies include the use of transparent toner overcoats, negative transparent toner masks, variable screen transparent toner screen masks, UV coaters, and post-press belt fusing. Unlike conventional systems, which may increase gloss at a cost of also increasing image relief, the present invention may produce an image having a controlled gloss, differential gloss, and image relief.

  • Publication number: 20060258137
Abstract: A semiconductor device and a fabrication method thereof ate provided. A semiconductor substrate having a plurality of bonding pads is prepared, and a first passivation layer, a second passivation layer and a metallic layer are successively formed on the semiconductor substrate. A third passivation layer is further applied on the semiconductor substrate and has a plurality of openings for exposing a portion of the metallic layer, wherein each of the openings is shifted in position from a corresponding one of the bonding pads by a distance not exceeding a radius of the bonding pad. A plurality of solder bumps are bonded to the exposed portion of the metallic layer and have a larger contact area with the third passivation layer. This provides better buffer to reduce stress exerted on the solder bumps, thereby preventing problems of cracking and delamination as in the prior art.

  • Publication number: 20060256849
Abstract: This invention presents a novel receiver architecture for full-duplex multi-level PAM systems. The receiver employs an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) that has a sample rate flexibly specified as (Ns+1)/Ns baud rate where Ns is an integer equal or greater than 1. A fractional-spaced echo canceller is used to cancel the echo at the ADC output. The use of a fractional sampling rate higher than the baud rate also enables the timing recovery function be implemented in the digital domain and hence eliminates the need of using the complex analog phase selection circuit. The receiver is also capable of fast, blind start-up by use of a decision feedback equalizer with unity main tap and a soft level slicer. The timing phase can be optimally located using a derivative channel estimator.
