  • Patent number: 6797065
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided to actively apply finish to one or more yarns in motion at speeds greater than about 3000 m/min, to achieve a finish application of 0.2 wt. % or more, and with a coefficient of variation of finish concentration of 10% or less. The devices are compact, portable and readily installed at a variety of positions on a fiber processing line. The devices of the invention contain the finish so that contamination of the surrounding areas is prevented. The devices may be used to provide an overfinish to a moving yarn between heated godet rolls. The so-provided heating may be used to dry the yarn and to promote curing reactions in the finish and between the yarn and finish compounds. The invention also includes the finished yarn products so produced. A yarn with increased finish uniformity is provided with an overfinish actively applied and dried on the draw bench before the first winding operation.

  • Publication number: 20040184551
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and an associated method for sampling timing compensation, which can estimate sampling frequency offset between the receiver and transmitter of a multi-carrier system according to estimated frequency responses of two consecutive received symbols within each pilot subchannel, and compensate an accumulated sampling timing offset resulted from the sampling frequency offset. When the accumulated timing offset is not large, the apparatus uses a phase rotator to compensate with a corresponding accumulated phase rotation in frequency domain. When the accumulated timing offset is large, the apparatus first compensates with a specific timing offset in time domain, and then uses the phase rotator to compensate with a phase rotation corresponding to the remaining timing offset in frequency domain. A timing controller is used to compensate with the specific timing offset by adjusting a clock generator or a cyclic prefix remover of the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20040186736
Abstract: A computer system is employed to manage semiconductor manufacturing cases. After receiving a log-in signal of a user, the computer system opens a case related to a manufacturing process according to an order from the user. Contents, procedures or adjusted results of the manufacturing process is then recorded in the case to form a response report of the case. Finally, after receiving a confirmation message and a signature information related to the response report of the case from the user, the computer system stores the response report of the case and closes the case.

  • Publication number: 20040184148
Abstract: A multimode laser beam depolarization and combining architecture integrates a combiner for polarized multimode light beams with a multimode beam depolarizer, that produces a composite depolarized output beam optimized for application to a Raman optical amplifier. A high-order depolarizing 45° waveplate is used to effectively depolarize multimode laser beams produced by a Fabry-Perot (FP) laser. The high-order 45° waveplate has a length that achieves multi mode dispersion-dependent depolarization of the beam over its travel path through the crystal, and may comprise a birefringent material such as YVO4 having a large difference between its extraordinary and ordinary indices of refraction.

  • Publication number: 20040185591
Abstract: A method for fabricating a titanium nitride (TiN) sensing membrane on an extended gate field effect transistor (EGFET). The method comprises the steps of depositing a layer of aluminum on a gate terminal of the EGFET using thermal evaporation and forming the TiN sensing membrane on an exposed part of the layer of aluminum in the sensitive window as an ion sensitive sensor (pH sensor) using a radio frequency (RF) sputtering process. Because TiN is suitable for use in a standard CMOS process, all the elements in the sensing device can be mass produced and offer the benefits of low cost, high yield, and high performance.
