  • Patent number: 8085971
Abstract: The planar speaker contains a frame, a diaphragm, a driver, a surround, and a number of flexible suspension elements. The diaphragm is suspended in a front opening of the frame by the surround. The driver is positioned at the center of the frame and a voice coil of the driver is attached to a back surface of the diaphragm. Two beams are arranged in parallel between two opposing longer wall segments of the frame on either side of the driver. The suspension elements are supported by the two beams, respectively, and attached to a back surface of the diaphragm. The symmetric deformation of the diaphragm along its longer side is thereby constrained by the suspension elements and the deformations at the two end zones of the diaphragm vibrating at a phase opposite to that of the center of the diaphragm would be suppressed.

  • Publication number: 20090262959
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a loudspeaker having a voice coil assembly includes the steps of: producing a flat voice coil; placing the voice coil into an injecting mold of a vibrating slab; forming a locating section to secure the voice coil; and assembling a loudspeaker by coupling the vibrating slab with a membrane together to produce a better sound quality. Furthermore, upper suspending arms provided on respective sides of the vibrating slab may be cut to lower the rigidity character of the vibrating slab and to increase the vibrating effect.

  • Publication number: 20060018504
Abstract: The invented multi-layer composite material panel comprises a panel structure that comprises a first composite material layer, an intermediate layer and a second composite material layer in order. Both composite material layers may have same or different constituent materials and layer structures. Each composite material layer may include a fiber-reinforced resin layer and a polymeric membrane. The intermediate layer may have one or more layer of porous material. A lamination panel is fabricated by placing the first composite material layer, the intermediate layer and the second composite material layer in order and binding the layers with affixing means. The multi-layer composite material panel so fabricated is light in weight, hard and strong in structure. The invented multi-layer composite material panel is particularly useful in the application where precision control is needed, such as in the case of panel radiator for loudspeaker.

  • Patent number: 6681026
Abstract: A structure of a rectangular transducer is provided. The structure includes a magnet assembly, a voice coil assembly and a positioning assembly. The magnet assembly has a pair of magnetic units with a gap therebetween for generating two magnetic fields having magnetic fluxes in opposite direction within the gap. The voice coil assembly includes a slab, a coil and a suspension unit, wherein the slab is used for being attached to a panel and the coil is immersed within the gap. The positioning assembly is used for supporting and positioning the magnet assembly and the voice coil assembly. When electric current flows through the coil, the voice coil assembly generates a motion in a direction vertical to the magnetic fluxes so as to excite the panel to generate flexural vibration and radiate sound.

  • Patent number: 6478109
Abstract: A laminated composite panel-form loudspeaker consists of a peripherally stiffened laminated composite radiating panel on which a preselected number of transducers are mounted and a rectangular frame carrying a flexible suspension device which supports the panel radiator. The laminated composite radiating panel comprises a predetermined number of orthotropic laminae with predetermined specific moduli and stacking sequence. The peripheral edge of the laminated composite radiating panel is reinforced with strips of which the rigidities are determined in such a way that beneficial natural normal modes of the radiating panel are excited and satisfactory operation of the panel radiator over a desired acoustic frequency range achieved. The standing waves at the peripheral edge of the stiffened radiating panel are damped out via the use of the flexible suspension device.
