  • Patent number: 8012518
Abstract: A step-down sucking method is provided for minimizing the weaning stress of newborn calves. The method features feeding newborn calves with a sufficient amount of milk corresponding to 15-25% of body weight for 3-5 weeks following birth, and then with a stepwise decreased amount of milk corresponding finally to 8-15% of body weight for 3-7 days, with the differential amount replaced with water and then with gradually decreased amounts of milk from 8-15% to zero % of the body weight and with solid feedstuffs for a period from 5 weeks to 6-8 weeks after birth, thereby inducing the calves to maximally take solid feedstuff with minimal weaning stress.

  • Publication number: 20100224131
Abstract: Disclosed is a suckling system wherein suckling of calves can be automatically performed and weaning stress of newborn calves can be minimized. The suckling system for calves with minimal weaning stress, includes a suckling unit and a milk feed unit to feed milk to calves, and a control module to control the units, wherein the suckling unit comprises a weight scale, and the control module measures the weight of calves and controls a feed amount of the milk feed unit, based on the weight. The milk feed unit uniformly supplies milk set to the temperature of the mother's milk to calves, the height of the teat member is controllable to a level suitable for calves, and after feeding, the teat member and the milk feed unit are automatically cleaned.

The method features feeding newborn calves with a sufficient amount of milk corresponding to 15-25% of body weight for 3˜5 weeks following birth, and then with a stepwise decreased amount of milk corresponding finally to 8-15% of body weight for 3-7 days, with the differential amount replaced with water and then with gradually decreased amounts of milk from 8-15% to zero % of the body weight and with solid feedstuffs for a period from 5 weeks to 6-8 weeks after birth. In the method, suckling with a large amount of milk (amounting to 15-25% of body weight) is conducted for 25-35 days after birth, followed by suckling with a decreased amount of milk (amounting to 8-15% of body weight) for 10-20 days, thereby inducing the calves to maximally take solid feedstuff with minimal weaning stress.

  • Publication number: 20090056697
Abstract: A direct-heating type carcass processing apparatus using vacuum. At least one piece of dead livestock infected with various diseases such as infectious diseases is heated for complete sterilization using high-pressure steam, and undergoes complete moisture removal to become dry by means of the vacuum, thereby allowing the dead livestock to be easily crushed. To this end, a carcass processing drum is directly heated by a heating means instead of a conventional steaming process, which provides steam from a boiler to the dead stock, to reduce a processing time and cost due to removal of the boiler. The vacuum can be converted into atmospheric pressure using a pressure valve so that the processed dead livestock can be discharged from the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20090050179
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cleaner composition comprising an alkalic agent, sodium polyacrylate as ion exchanger, a sterilizer and water, and a cleaning method using the same. More particularly, the present invention relates to a cleaner composition comprising 5 to 15 weight % of an alkalic agent, 5 to 20 weight % of sodium polyacrylate having a molecular weight 4,000 to 10,000 as ion exchanger, 0.5 to 30 weight % of a sterilizer, and water as remainder, and a cleaning method using the same. The cleaner composition of the present invention provides the effect of removing fats, proteins, minerals, etc. comparable to or better than that of the conventional cleaner, and can reduce cleaning time and cost because the cleaning process is simplified. Hence, it can be utilized to clean milking machines or other appliances.
