  • Patent number: 5450931
Abstract: A thixotropic material is charged in a container. The container also holds a movable member which is placed in the thixotropic material so as to stir the thixotropic material. A force transmitting element is connected to the movable member. When an object, the vibration of which is to be controlled, is out of resonance, the amplitude of vibration is so small that the thixotropic material is in a gel state, thus presenting a comparatively large spring constant for the vibration control apparatus. As the excitation frequency is increased towards the resonance range, the amplitude of vibration is increased correspondingly, so that the movable member stirs the thixotropic material to generate stress in the latter, whereby the phase of the thixotropic material is changed from gel to sol. Consequently, the natural frequency of the vibration system, including the object and the vibration control apparatus, is lowered, thus averting resonance.

  • Patent number: 5372361
Abstract: A casing of a stacker is provided with an opening and a chamber for disposing a pusher within the casing adjacent to the opening so that the pusher can be removably attached within the stacker. Also provided in the pusher is a slit-shaped inlet connected with an exit of a passageway within a transporter. By removing the pusher from the stacker and attaching same to another stacker having its compartment of different capacity, bill storing capacity may easily be changed. In malfunction of the pusher, it may easily be exchanged with new one for easy maintenance.

  • Patent number: 5345177
Abstract: A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes a magnet for generating a static magnetic field, a gradient coil for generating a gradient magnetic field in a measurement space, and a vibration damping means which includes a container and granular material disposed in the container. The vibration damping means is installed with a supporting bolt between the gradient coil and a supporting means. Since the gradient coil is supported at a constant position without any vibration and deformation, the magnetic resonance imaging apparatus generates an accurate image signal without any acoustic noise.

  • Patent number: 5344135
Abstract: A currency stacker is disclosed which a pusher is positioned within a first chamber of a casing. This pusher comprises a base plate, a pusher plate and a link connecting the base plate and pusher plate for traveling the pusher plate from the retracted position within the first chamber to the extended position in a second chamber of the casing toward and away from the base plate. A bill supplied to the first chamber through a slit of the casing is moved by the pusher plate to the second chamber when the pusher plate is moved to the extended position. Disposed within the first chamber is a driver for operating the link to travel the pusher plate between the retracted and extended positions. The driver keeps the pusher in the extended position to prevent unauthorized removal of the bill from the second chamber.

  • Patent number: 5309105
Abstract: A magnetic-resonance imaging apparatus has superconducting magnets for generating a large uniform magnetic field within a predetermined volume. Within that volume, coils for generating magnetic field gradients are supported on a bobbin, enabling an object within the bobbin to be investigated. The coils on the bobbin are subject to forces but are rigidly connected to the bobbin. Therefore, energy is transmitted to the bobbin which can cause the bobbin to vibrate and so generate noise. To dissipate that energy, the coils are attached to tubes, or other hollow members, on the bobbin, which tubes or hollow members contain movable bodies such as particulate material. The energy due to the forces on the coils cause the movable bodies to move and collide, so dissipating the energy and reducing the noise.

  • Patent number: 5243482
Abstract: In a floating type magnetic head support mechanism for a magnetic disk apparatus, a slider carrying a magnetic head floats a small distance above a magnetic disk in accordance with a rotation of the magnetic head to enable a reading/writing of information from/onto the disk by the magnetic head. The slider is coupled to a distal end of a load arm through a gimbal. The coupling portion is located in a common plane parallel with a floating surface of the slider, with the coupling portion including a center of gravity of the slider or being in a parallel plane closer to the floating surface than the center of gravity. The magnetic head support mechanism is so constructed that no rotational moment is applied to a slider during the access operation by the access mechanism.
