  • Patent number: 8918560
Abstract: A controller for a storage device is connected to a host system and the storage device. A buffer memory includes first and second storage areas. A timer counts a preset given time in response to an instruction to start counting and sends a deadline notification when A given time is elapsed. A command responding portion, when receiving a read command from the host system, instructs the timer to start counting and thereafter outputs a read instruction to read data from the storage system. A data processing portion, in response to the read instruction by the command responding portion, reads specified data from the storage device and holds the read data in the second storage area of the buffer memory. A read control portion sends the host system the data held in the second storage area of the buffer memory when the deadline notification is received from the timer.

  • Patent number: 8223684
Abstract: According to this invention, there is provided a method applicable to the system which comprises a plurality of base stations each forming radio zones and storing a mobile terminal, and a gateway being connected to a packet communication network and relaying packet communication between the packet communication network and the mobile terminal. The method comprises buffering packets transmitted by a downlink to the mobile terminal in a packet buffer, requiring retransmission of unarrived packets in handover accompanied by movement among the radio zones, reading the packet required from the mobile terminal to retransmit the packet to the mobile terminal that is a request source, and assigning serial identification numbers to packets at least in a start to an end of the handover. When the identification numbers of the reached packets are discontinuous, the mobile terminal requires retransmission of packets needed to eliminate the discontinuity.
