  • Patent number: 6227001
Abstract: Fins (6) of an indoor heat exchanger (4) for an separate type air conditioner are prevented from being deflected toward the inside and deformed by an external force imposed during transport. In the separate type air conditioner comprising: an indoor unit including an indoor air intake port (2), an indoor heat exchanger (4) bent into a front portion and a rear portion, an indoor fan, an indoor air blow-off port (5), etc.; an outdoor unit including an outdoor air intake port, an outdoor heat exchanger, an outdoor fan, an outdoor air blow-off port, a compressor, etc.; and pipes and wires connecting the indoor unit to the outdoor unit to form a refrigeration cycle and an electric circuit, a spacer (9) provided on top of the bent portion of the indoor heat exchanger (4) is provided with protruding faces (10, 11, 13) so that the protruding faces (10, 11, 13) are caused to abut on the upper inside of the fins (6) on the front side and the rear side of the indoor heat exchanger (4).

  • Patent number: 5970741
Abstract: A refrigerant separator is capable of exhibiting the heat exchanger capacity to the maximum extent, by dividing the refrigerant, including liquid phase and gas phase, at an optimum refrigerant separation ratio, regardless of the mounting position of the refrigerant separator in the heat ex-changer inside the indoor unit of an air conditioner. A first passage having a first opening end, a second passage branched off from the first passage, and a third passage branched off from the first passage are provided. The second passage and third passage are formed in mutually different inside diameters by using an L-shaped partition. Supposing the inside diameter of the second passage to be .phi.A and the inside diameter of the third passage to be .phi.B, .phi.A and .phi.B are set so as to satisfy the relation of 7/10<.phi.B/.phi.A)<1.

  • Patent number: 5878591
Abstract: An air conditioner with a direction changing device enabling safe handling of condensed water without causing reduction in direction changing capacity in a cooling-mode operation is provided. The air conditioner comprises a main body, air conditioning members provided in the main body for achieving a function of conditioning the air, an outlet grille located in a front side of the main body for directing air from inside the main body to outside the main body and a lateral flap placed in an opening of the outlet grille for changing the direction of air in the lateral direction. A part of the lateral flap is held by a mounting shaft. The lateral flap can be pivotally moved in the lateral direction about the mounting shaft. A convex portion is provided in a downwind end of the lateral flap.
