Abstract: Method of and apparatus for storing tobacco or the like in high stacks and discharging the same, in which tobacco is charged into and stored in a plurality of vertically elongated storage chambers arranged side by side. The tobacco is discharged to fall onto a discharging conveyor arranged horizontally beneath the storage chambers, while changing the orientation of the tobacco layer from a horizontal to a vertical direction. The tobacco layer oriented in a vertical direction is transported by the discharging conveyor. Completion of the discharge is detected and then discharging the tobacco of the next chamber is started. Separating doffers are provided for cooperation with the discharging conveyor.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for threshing ribs from tobacco leaves and the like. The method comprises a basket having a grid in which a threshing gear formed with a rotary drum including teeth on its periphery is accommodated in such a manner that the outside portion of the gear is disposed spacedly adjacent to it, supplying raw material to the space between the threshing gear and the basket from one side of the axial direction by an air flow at a predetermined speed corresponding to the peripheral speed of the gear, rotating the gear and basket at different peripheral speeds and discharging raw material toward the crossing direction of the axis. The apparatus comprises a casing, a threshing gear formed with a rotary drum having teeth, a basket having a grid and surrounding the gear, the gear and basket being rotated at different peripheral speeds, a material supply port, a feed duct and a discharge opening.

Abstract: An apparatus for supplying cardboard is provided. The apparatus comprises a frame, a cardboard stack support means provided on said frame to detect a position of the front of the cardboard stack, cardboard stack support drive means, cardboard raising mechanisms mounted in said frame and capable of being in contact with the front of the cardboard stack at a reference position, a pair of feed rollers provided in said frame and above said cardboard stack raising mechanisms and compressed air jetting means facing the opposite sides of the laminar cardboard stack. The apparatus for supplying cardboards, which has the means described above, can readily and reliably supply laminar pulp cardboards one by one.
