Abstract: A carbon grounding brush has a sliding surface that slides on and grounds a driving shaft transmitting driving force and exposed to an insulating liquid. A slit is provided on the sliding surface, and at least one end of the slit is located on one side of the sliding surface. The slit introduces into the slit the insulating liquid pressed towards the sliding surface by the rotation of the driving shaft and discharges the insulating liquid from the one end of the slit. Thus, the contact resistance between the driving shaft and the sliding surface is made small, and electrical corrosion and electromagnetic noises are reduced.

Abstract: A magnetic card reader apparatus includes a magnetic data reading unit configured to read magnetic data of a magnetic card, an insertion detecting unit configured to detect an insertion of the magnetic card, and an interval increase/decrease driving unit configured to increase/decrease an interval between the magnetic data reading unit and the magnetic card when the insertion detecting unit detects the insertion of the magnetic card.

Abstract: A motherboard can be installed commonly in each of a plurality of electronic devices of various types different in configuration without modifying the BIOS setting by comprising a setting information retaining section retaining setting information for a setting process for each electronic device; a specification information obtaining section obtaining specification information for specifying the type of each electronic device; a modifying information retaining section retaining modification information for modifying the setting information according to the type of each electronic device; a setting information modifying section modifying, on the basis of the specification information and the modification information retained, the setting information according to the type of the device in which the motherboard is installed; and a setting process performing section for performing the setting process for the device on the basis of the modified setting information.
