  • Patent number: 7707900
Abstract: A magnetic shield made of magnetic material in the shape of a thin cylinder is externally fitted and fixed on a cylindrical mold member holding magnetic flux collecting rings so that it has extended sections with appropriate length on both sides in the axial direction, and therefore magnetic noise from outside in the radial direction is shielded directly by the outer surface of the magnetic shield, magnetic noise from both sides in the axial direction is shielded by concentrating the magnetic noise on the end faces of the magnetic shield, and the influence on the magnetic flux collecting rings held in the mold member is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 7415898
Abstract: A torque detecting apparatus according to the present invention includes a first shaft and a second shaft connected coaxially to each other through a connecting shaft, a permanent magnet fixed to the first shaft, a plurality of soft magnetic members having a collar provided therein, fitted by pressing with the second shaft and disposed in a magnetic field of the permanent magnet to form a magnetic circuit, and a detector for detecting magnetic flux generated from the soft magnetic members, wherein the soft magnetic members are integrally molded with a mold body made of synthetic resin, and when a torque is applied to the first shaft or the second shaft, the torque is detected based on an output of the detector. The collar is made of a non-magnetic material.

  • Patent number: 7387034
Abstract: A torque detecting apparatus having a permanent magnet fixed to an input shaft, magnetic yokes fixed to an output shaft coaxially connected to the input shaft via a torsion bar and disposed within a magnetic field of the permanent magnet to form a magnetic circuit, and a Hall IC for detecting a magnetic flux induced by the magnetic yokes. The permanent magnet is of a truncated conical shape, and the bevel circumference surface thereof is magnetized by magnetic poles alternately in a reverse polarities along circumference direction, so as to oppose the magnetic yokes. A torque applied to the input shaft or the output shaft can be detected through detection by the Hall IC of the magnetic flux generated between the magnetic yokes. The configuration allows reducing the length in an axial direction of the input shaft.

  • Patent number: 6334502
Abstract: Disclosed is a power steering apparatus using an electric motor as a drive source. The power steering apparatus includes a drive inhibiting circuit for inhibiting an electric motor from being driven when the temperature detected by a temperature sensor is not less than an upper-limit temperature, a judging circuit for judging, in a state where the electric motor is inhibited from being driven by the drive inhibiting circuit, whether or not the steering angle is included in a predetermined steering angle midpoint range when the temperature sensor detects a temperature which is not more than a lower-limit temperature, and a re-drive allowing circuit for allowing, when it is judged that the steering angle is within the steering angle midpoint range, the electric motor to be driven again.
