    Abstract: To provide alert apparatus for use with fastener equipment, fasteners, wearable and portable items (for example, clothing and bags) including fasteners. The alert apparatus having a signal source (for example, a pull tab having a bell made of soft iron) that is helpful in alerting a user that a fastener has not been closed or connected, and a modifier (for example, a pull tab provided with a magnet) that can be connected to the signal source. The signal source and modifier each being attached to part(s) (for example, slider(s) of a slide fastener) of a fastener or to the cloth surrounding an opening in clothing, opening of a bag, or the like. When the opening is closed by means of the fastener and the signal source and the signal modifier are connected to each other, the operating condition of the signal source is modified.
