  • Publication number: 20080174442
Abstract: A contaminant detector disposed within a base fluid for detecting the presence of a contaminating fluid includes a conductive core, a conductive sensor probe extending from the core in non-conductive relation, and a circuit board within the core. The circuit board is electrically connected to the sensor probe and electrically insulated from the core. Electrical power applied to the core creates a closed field loop for measuring the localized capacitance of the base fluid. When sufficient contaminating fluid exists in the base fluid to change the localized capacitance, an alarm is sounded to indicate the presence of the contaminating fluid.

  • Publication number: 20070186977
Abstract: A pilot valve actuator for use with a hydrant valve has a pilot valve and a removable actuator. The pilot valve blocks communication between a primary hydrant chamber and a piston chamber when in a closed position. Under pressure, the actuator opens the pilot valve against its biasing force permitting the flow of fluid between the hydrant chamber and the piston chamber. The pilot valve is permanently attached to the hydrant valve. The actuator is removable from the pilot valve by a quick disconnect mechanism permitting storage of the actuator remote from the hydrant valve.

  • Patent number: 6708723
Abstract: An inwardly opening mechanical vent system is provided for use in a fluid tank having a bottom loading valve and a vent formed in an upper tank surface. The vent system includes a spring interposed between a vent valve and a body extending downwardly into the tank to bias the vent valve upwardly into a closed position. A shaft extends downwardly from the vent valve and is connected to a lever mechanism. The lever mechanism includes a scissor-hinge assembly connected to a trunnion of the body. A linkage rod extends upwardly from the bottom loading valve and is capable of actuating the lever mechanism to lower the shaft and vent valve into the tank to open the vent when the bottom loading valve is opened.

  • Patent number: 5634505
Abstract: An improved refueling system is provided for faster and safer pit stop refueling of a race car during a race, wherein the system is particularly designed for faster gravity drain flow to fuel from a pitside fuel tank to a fuel cell on the race car. The refueling system comprises an improved fuel nozzle adapted for quick and easy engagement with a mating receiver on the race car. In the course of engaging the fuel nozzle with the receiver, a flow control valve in the nozzle is moved to a full-open position defining a substantially unobstructed flow path for fuel flow through the nozzle at a substantially optimized flow rate to achieve refueling of the race car in the shortest possible time. The fuel nozzle is quickly and easily disengaged from the car receiver, and such disengagement is accompanied by automatic independent closure of the flow control valve.

  • Patent number: 4699403
Abstract: Fully integrated self-contained connectors for standard tubes include a first annular member having an axial bore preferably of a continuously hollow-cylindrical configuration for receiving ferrules of those standard tubes. A locking arrangement peripheral of the first annular member carries locking members extending through openings in that first annular member for retaining a ferrule at a tube retention shoulder in a locking position. At least one further annular member is axially slidable on the first annular member and houses the locking arrangement outside that first annular member. The locking members are actuated to a locking position upon axial sliding of the further annular member in one direction. Conversely, the locking members are actuated to a release position upon axial sliding movement of the further annular member in another direction. The further annular member may define one or more internal ramps for that purpose.
