  • Patent number: 7234852
Abstract: A lamp includes a projection lens, a reflector, and a prismatic lens. The prismatic lens receives direct light, which has been transmitted from the light source outwardly with respect to a widthwise direction of a vehicle, and refracts the received light toward the optical axis. The prismatic lens is separated outwardly from the optical axis in the widthwise direction of a vehicle and is provided between the projection lens and the reflector. The prismatic lens can provide an additional light distribution pattern formed outside, in the widthwise orientation, of a basic light distribution pattern formed from light passed though the projection lens.

  • Publication number: 20050248955
Abstract: Between a projection lens and a reflector and outwardly separated from an optical axis in the widthwise orientation of a vehicle, a prismatic lens refracts the light from a light source toward the outside of the widthwise direction of the vehicle, close to the optical axis. From light having exited from the prismatic lens, an additional light distribution pattern is formed outside, in the widthwise orientation, of a basic light distribution pattern formed from light passed through the projection lens. An additional reflector for reflecting the direct light that traveled from the light source toward the inside of the widthwise orientation, toward the prismatic lens is inwardly separated from the optical axis in the widthwise direction of the vehicle between the projection lens and the reflector. As a result, a second additional light distribution pattern is formed outside of the additional light distribution pattern in the widthwise orientation.

  • Patent number: 5707134
Abstract: A vehicular lamp including a reflector, a member for tiltably supporting the reflector, and an aiming screw for driving the reflector to tilt by rotating. The aiming screw serves as a shaft member linking to the reflector supporting member by a so-called rotation pair, while linking to the reflector by a so-called screw pair. The reflector is formed with an aiming screw stopper which comes into abutment against a tip end part of the aiming screw when the reflector tilts up to a predetermined angle position thereby to inhibit the reflector to tilt beyond the predetermined angle.

  • Patent number: 5688044
Abstract: A fog lamp or the like which provides a desired light distribution pattern by means of horizontally diffusing lens steps formed in a lens in the case either where a downward curve is provided in the outer end portion of the lens disposed in front of a reflector and inclined in right and left directions, and where reflected light enters the outer end portion of the lens diagonally from the rear. Horizontally diffusing lens steps situated in the outer end portion of the lens are formed in such a manner that, when the lens is viewed from ahead of the lamp, they are not seen extending in the perpendicular direction like the horizontally diffusing lens steps situated in the other portions of the lens, but appear curved and shifted from top toward bottom inwardly in the vehicle width direction while their right and left widths are narrowed. This allows the horizontally diffusing lens steps to be seen extending in the perpendicular direction when they are viewed from the entering direction of the reflected light.

  • Patent number: 5688043
Abstract: A fog lamp or the like having a lens disposed in front of a reflector and having portions inclined right and left, which lamp makes effective use of light reflected from the reflector and also has reduced regenerative action in an outer end portion of the lens. The reflector has a left reflecting surface area and a right reflecting surface area with a perpendicular surface containing the optical axis of the reflector as the boundary thereof. The left reflecting surface area is formed as a paraboloid of revolution, while the right reflecting surface area is formed as a laterally diffusing curved surface which reflects incident light from the light source in such a manner that the more distant a reflecting point is from the optical axis in the lateral direction, the larger a reflection angle is with respect to the optical axis.

The lens is inclined with respect to the optical axis of the headlamp. The shade has a cut-out portion for transmitting light emitted from the bulb through a side part thereof, and the shade is provided with an inclined portion at a front end portion thereof shaped so as to correspond to the shape of the inclined lens surface.

  • Patent number: 5535103
Abstract: A vehicular headlamp which includes a lamp housing and a reflector tiltably supported within the lamp housing by an aiming screw and aiming fulcrums. The aiming screw penetrates the lamp housing and is rotatably supported thereby. The front end of the aiming screw engages the reflector while the rear end protrudes from the lamp housing and is secured to a gear. An adjustment shaft is rotatably supported by the lamp housing, a rear end of the adjustment shaft being fixed to a gear engaging with the gear of the aiming screw. The two gears constitute a gear section which is covered with a cover member having an opening which opens downward, thereby preventing foreign matter such as dirt, water or dust from adhering to the gear section and allowing foreign matter to be immediately discharged from the cover member.
