  • Patent number: 5921685
Abstract: With the size precision suitable for mass production, the time and labor required for running-in of various rotating machine and apparatus such as a gear box with the bearing installed are reduced.A clearance 13 exists between the end face on the larger diameter side and the inner face 7a of the larger flange portion 7 in the state where the end face on the smaller diameter side of the tapered rollers 3 is abutted to the inner face 6a of the smaller flange portion 6. The minimum value of the size .DELTA.L of the clearance 13 is kept up to 0.3 mm. Simultaneously, the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value in the length L of the tapered rollers 3 is kept up to 0.15 mm.

  • Patent number: 5711738
Abstract: In a conical roller bearing for supporting a pinion shaft of a differential gear, the contact angle .alpha. of a conical roller bearing for supporting the pinion shaft is controlled between 22.degree. and 28.degree.; the ratio of the diameter Da of the conical roller at the larger-diameter end face to its length L is controlled between 0.51 and 1.0; and the roller number coefficient k is controlled to range from 1.16 to 1.32. The conical roller bearing constructed thus contributes to better fuel economy on automobiles by fully ensuring the necessary levels of fatigue strength and bearing rigidity and yet reducing the dynamic torque it develops.

  • Patent number: 5018882
Abstract: An apparatus for supporting a rotating shaft of a vehicle transmission with a roller bearing has a pair of seals which have an inner peripheral edge slanted toward and come very close to the end surface of the rollers of the roller bearing, whereby when the rotating shaft is tilted and inserted into the roller bearing, it is hard for the end of the rotating shaft to hit the seal on the opposite side from insertion.

  • Patent number: 4909092
Abstract: In a toroidal type infinitely variable transmission wherein power is transmitted between input and output discs by a transmission roller, the angle .theta. formed by the points of contact with the two discs with respect to the center of rotation of the transmission roller is set to 105.degree. or greater. Also, the curvature ratio R.sub.2 /R.sub.1 between the radius of curvature R.sub.2 of the traction surface of the transmission roller and the radius of curvature R.sub.1 of the toroidal surfaces of the input and output discs is 0.6 or more.

  • Patent number: 4904094
Abstract: A rolling bearing, comprising an inner race, an outer race and rolling members which roll therebetween, at least one of the inner and outer races being subjected to carburizing and heating treatment, is characterized in that:the one race comprises a carbon steel containing 0.1 to 0.7 wt. % of carbon, with the residual austenite content on the track surface layer being 20 to 45 vol. % and the rolling members comprise a carbon steel containing 0.7 to 1.1 wt. % of carbon having carbonitriding and heating treatment applied on the surface layer, with the residual austenite content in such surface layer being 20 to 45 vol. % and the carbonitride in such surface being 3 to 15 vol. %.In another form of the bearing, the rolling members may comprise a carbon steel containing 0.1 to 0.7 wt. % of carbon, with the surface layers thereof being subjected to carburizing and heating treatment and having a residual austenite content of 20 to 45 vol. %.

  • Patent number: 4830518
Abstract: A seal plate for sealing the axial end opening between the outer ring and the inner ring of a cylindrical roller bearing includes a mandrelor core. The mandrel has a fixing portion at the peripheral part to be fitted to the outer ring, a slant portion protruding obliquely and outwardly, an intermediate portion extending from the slant portion perpendicularly to the axis, and bent portion protruding inwardly in the axial direction from the inner edge of the intermediate portion. A lip portion formed of an elastic member is bonded to the bent portion to extend in the opposite direction to the fixing portion. In the cylindrical outside surface of the flange of the inner ring, there is a step-formed portion in two steps at a position facing the bent portion and the lip portion of the mandrel of the seal plate.
