The imaging element has a quadrangular outer shape in the direction perpendicular to the direction along the center axis of the lens. The lighting member is disposed outside a side of the lens and extends in the direction along the center axis of the lens. The light-shielding member extends in the direction along the center axis of the lens from an insertion tip surface in a tip portion of the endoscope to the imaging surface of the imaging element.
