    Abstract: This invention relates to a method of forming a lead acid storage battery comprising a primary forming stage wherein pasted electrodes as immersed in an electrolyte selected from the group consisting of alkaline aqueous solutions, neutral aqueous solutions and dilute aqueous sulfuric acid solutions are charged for a short time and a secondary forming stage where said electrodes are further charged in a concentrated aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. The method contributes to improvements in the high rate discharge characteristic and cycle life characteristic of the battery.
