  • Patent number: 7936482
Abstract: In a PC, image data, position data indicating the position of the image data, and addition data associated with the image data are created. Further, the PC requests a background management unit to send a background pattern used to specify paper and a position on the paper, and prints the background pattern together with the image data. Further, the PC registers the background pattern, the addition data, and the position data in an information server in association with each other. When the user points to an image on the paper provided as the result of printing with a handwrite input pen, the background pattern and the pointing position are detected on the paper, and the addition data corresponding to the paper and the position is output.

  • Patent number: 7528970
Abstract: When an user inserts already used paper into a shredder of PC, a scanner disposed with the shredder reads a background pattern put on the paper. The shredder shreds and discards the inserted paper. The PC transmits the background pattern put on the discard paper to a background management unit and further notifies a background management unit that the paper is discarded. The background management unit places the background pattern sent from the PC in an unused state and manages the background pattern so that the background pattern can be reused.

  • Patent number: 7111008
Abstract: The present invention provides a knowledge-based management diagnosis system which evaluates/diagnoses enterprise management and automatically generates a community for enhancing the enterprise management. A questionnaire on the awareness, and etc. of employees is conducted, whereupon on the basis of the questionnaire, the management situation of an organization is diagnosed, the course of improvement/reform is indicated, and a community of persons who are interested in particular knowledge or whose work styles are similar is automatically generated. Knowledge assets are classified into the characteristic of individual working manners, the characteristic of working manners in the organization, and a characteristic expressive of the sources of profits at present and in the future, to which the characteristic of knowledge-based management may well be added.

  • Patent number: 6671855
Abstract: A document outlining any work done on a workspace is to be automatically generated. A workspace history managing part holds the present and past states of a workspace together with history information on the manipulation performed on the workspace. A synthesis rule holding part holds synthesis rules for synthesizing information. A synthesizing part, working on history information managed by the workspace history managing part, synthesizes information in accordance with the synthesis rules held by the synthesis rule holding part, and thereby generates outline information. This dispenses with the need for a user to prepare documents stating the progress of his or her work, and reduces the user's workload correspondingly. Moreover, automatic generation of outline information makes the latest information available all the time.

  • Patent number: 5893909
Abstract: The present invention provides an information processing apparatus to administer a set of evaluation units for providing evaluation including classification, providing comments and so on to information based on the history of evaluation in the past. A data object or information specifying the data object is stored as an information unit in an information unit administering element to be administered, and a set of evaluation units (item such as classification, providing comments and so on) is stored in an evaluation unit set administering element and administered. Every time evaluation is provided to the information unit, information about the relation of association among the information unit, evaluation unit and the set of evaluation units is stored in an evaluation history administering element as a result of evaluation to be administered.

  • Patent number: 5877772
Abstract: A graphic processing apparatus is described which is capable of controlling the highlighting states of regions of an image by providing differences in color and hatching densities and the like to the regions in accordance with the area and the degree of importance of the region. This allows high quality coloring and hatching to be easily performed. The graphic processing apparatus has a memory for temporarily storing the image; a region extractor that extracts a plurality of regions to be painted with a color from the stored image; a region color determiner that determines region colors to be applied to the extracted regions; and an output image generator that generates an image having the color attributes applied to the extracted regions of the stored image. The region colors are differentiated from each other by differences in color attributes from among the regions in accordance with the areas of the individual regions each to be painted with a color.

  • Patent number: 5790853
Abstract: A workspace management section collects resources related to a job and manages them as a workspace separately from resource management of a primary resource management section. The workspace has resource administration information as job relevant information, area information on a display screen, a base image, etc. A program can define the area information together with areas on the screen. A workspace display section superposes icons corresponding to the resources on the base image for display. The icons can be moved by a resource placement section. When an icon is moved to a different area, a job support processing execution section executes a program defined corresponding to the area to which the icon is moved, whereby different meanings can be imparted to the same resource depending on the area in which the corresponding icon is placed.
