  • Publication number: 20050126542
Abstract: A fuel injector control apparatus for a cylinder injection type engine includes driving circuits each shared by plural fuel injectors classified groupwise and having one ends connected in common to a potential source, switching means (13, 17, 19) connected to the potential source for turning on/off driving currents supplied to the injectors of a same group, a fuel quantity/injection timing arithmetic means (2) for determining a fuel supply quantity and a fuel injection timing on the basis of outputs from various sensors (1), driving circuits (10, 20) for firing the switching means in response to output of the fuel quantity/injection timing arithmetic means (2), and a ground fault identifying/discriminating means (2) for specifying a fault location upon occurrence of a ground fault. When the fault location is specified, fuel injection from other injector of the injector group to which the fault suffering injector belongs is stopped.

  • Patent number: 6889666
Abstract: A fuel pressure control apparatus for a cylinder injection type engine capable of restarting the engine without fail notwithstanding increase of fuel pressure due to temperature rise immediately after stoppage of engine operation. Fuel is supplied from a high pressure fuel pump (5) to a fuel rail (2) to be injected by fuel injection valves (1) into combustion chambers (20) of cylinders. An ECU (10) estimates increment (?P) of the fuel pressure (PF) within the fuel rail (2) after stoppage of the engine operation on the basis of a water temperature (THW) and an intake air temperature (THA) to restrict a maximum value of a desired fuel pressure (Po) so that a sum value (PM) of the desired fuel pressure (Po) and the increment (?P) does not exceed the critical actuation pressure (Pi) of the fuel injection valve (1).

  • Patent number: 6871633
Abstract: Apparatus for diagnosing high pressure fuel system of a cylinder injection type engine includes fuel pump (18), spill valve (33), fuel injectors (15), fuel pressure sensor (19) and fuel pressure control means (30). A control period for the pump (18) covers an intake period and a discharge period. The discharge period covers spill valve closing period and spill valve opening period. Fuel pressure control means (30) includes spill valve control period setting means for adjusting spill valve closing/opening periods, abnormality decision period detecting means for detecting as abnormality decision period the spill valve opening period during the discharge period in the engine operation, pressure change arithmetic means for determining change of the fuel pressure (PF) on the basis of the abnormality decision period, and diagnosing means for deciding as to abnormality of the spill valve (33), based on the change of the fuel pressure (PF).

  • Patent number: 6868826
Abstract: A fuel pressure control apparatus is provided with a fuel pump for supplying the high-pressure fuel to an accumulator, a fuel pressure sensor for detecting a fuel pressure in the accumulator, an idling switch for detecting, on the basis of an accelerator manipulation, whether the internal combustion engine is in an idling state, an ECU for controlling an amount of fuel that is supplied from the fuel pump to the accumulator so that the fuel pressure in the accumulator that is detected by the fuel pressure sensor coincides with a target fuel pressure that is set in accordance with a rotation speed and a load of the internal combustion engine, and a target fuel pressure switching unit for restricting the target fuel pressure to a prescribed fuel pressure or lower while the idling switch detects that the internal combustion engine is in an idling state.
