In a content supply system 100, a provider uses a streaming server 102 to perform live distribution and makes a reservation for the use of a time zone, etc. to a server reservation control center 101 with a user PC 106. In the case where the user PC 106 sends desired reservation information including e-mail addresses of people who are wanted to see the content, to the server reservation control center 101 over the Internet 103, when the reservation is permitted, the server reservation control center 101 sends an e-mail notifying that a content distribution will be performed to each e-mail address.

Abstract: A content providing device, content providing method, program storage media, content providing system and content reservation control method are disclosed. Many kinds of contents to be provided in a time schedule frame matching the time demanded are sequentially provided to a client PC 4 based on a providing schedule set up to provide plural kinds of contents in each time schedule frame one by one, which keeps a client interested. A plurality of user PCs 2 share the exclusive storage area in the content server 39 and thus contents can be supplied to many and unspecific persons who have accessed. When the number of contents to be provided simultaneously at a desired time on the providing schedule has reached the upper value, reservations are controlled, thereby preventing the lowering of content transferring speed and ensuring a speedy provision.

Abstract: An electronic-equipment system is formed by a home switch connected to a telephone, a VCR, an audio apparatus, a-personal computer, a set-top box (decoder) and a television receiver by home data lines. The home switch transmits data received from the pieces of electronic equipment to destinations through a public data line. Before being transmitted to a destination, the data is first converted into data in a predetermined internal protocol and then converted into data in a protocol for the public data line. The home switch also receives incoming data transmitted through the public data line. The received data undergoes reversed protocol conversion before being transmitted to the electronic equipment. In addition, data output by a piece of electronic equipment can be transmitted to another piece of electronic equipment at the same home through the home switch.
